PAGE 4 -PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22,1975 Jack Pahl, Other New Officers Named To NIPC Jack Pahl was elected president of the Northeastern Illinois Planning commission (NIPC) Jan. 16 He replaces Ira J. Bach, who resigned effective Jan. 1 toobecome administrator of the new Illinois-Indiana Bi- State commission. Cyril C. Wagner was elected vice president, replacing Pahl. Doris B. Holleb was elected secretary, replacing Laura Pollak, whose term as com missioner of NIPC expired Oct. 1. All three new officers are filling vacancies in positions last elected for one-year terms at the 1974 annual meeting. Pahl is a resident and former village president of Elk Grove Village. He is serving a four- year term as commissioner by appointment of the governor of Illinois in 1971. He had been in his second one-year term as Vice President. Wagner is Village President of Tower Lakes. He was elected a Commissioner by the Assembly of Suburban Mayors and Village Presidents in 1973. Mrs. Holleb is a faculty member of the University of Chicago. She was appointed commissioner by the Governor in 1973. Bach is a consulting planner and developer. He was ap pointed Commissioner by the mayor of Chicago in 1968 and 1972. Mrs. Pollak is a former state president of the League of Women Voters and a Highland Park resident. Sfce was four times a Governor'^ appointee to NIPC beginning in 1961. « NIPC is an independent agency created by the Illinois General Assembly in 1957 to conduct research, prepare regional plans, and advise local governments in the six counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will. NIPC is also responsible for advising federal and state agencies on grant applications. Commissioners, who serve without pay, are appointed by the governor, the mayor of Chicago, the six County board chairmen, the Chicago Transit Authority, and the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago. In addition, five commissioners are elected by the suburban mayors' assembly. The Bi-State commission. is the coordinating agency for NIPC and the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning commission. Fairway drive, McHenry, was promoted to his present rank while serving at the Marine corps Air station, Jacksonville, N.C. Sagers, of 4602 W. Willow Lane, McHenry, graduated from the Aviation Structural^ Mechanic Safety Equipment course at the Naval Technical Training center in Millington, Tenn. He received instruction in the operating procedures and safety precautions in main taining aircraft hydraulic systems, fuselages, wings and safety equipment. attended the two-day Purina Feeding Advisory school held in Geneseo, 111. This school was conducted by a staff of top livestock experts. The two-day course included up-to-date information on pork production with emphasis on helping producers increase the productivity of their sow herds, controlling baby pig killers and utilization of frost damaged corn to best advantage. This brings Illinois Bell's construction expenditures to over $2 billion in the past five years. In McHenry county, Bell System expenditures of all kinds (including wages, pur chases and taxes) amounted to $9,494,029 for 1974, according to Illinois Bell Manager Stan Jozwiak. He also noted that there are now 59,600 Bell telephones in McHenry county, an increase of 3,470 over last year. ' . i Continued telephone growth in McHenry county was a big part of the telephone picture in 1974 Illinois Bell construction forces laid approximately 305,400 feet of cable in McHenry county during 1974. Crystal Lake became the first city in McHenry county, and the ninth Illinois Bell community, to begin using "911", the Universal Emergency Number. Crystal Lake adapted 911 emergency service last September. * (Marengo just cut to 911 service Jan. 15 of this year.) 1,862 Showings Of Heart Film Within County The Illinois Heart association set another record this past fiscal year when a grand total of 94,631 people reviewed the association's films during 1,862 separate showings.
