RTE. 120 McHENRY Just a few years ago, tuning a1" color television set was a frustrating chore. Faces often appeared green, grass was purple and constant adjustments were required. Last year GTE Sylvania introduced the all solid- state GT-MaticTM series of color TV set^which were called "the first true self- adjusting color television sets" and earlier this year the company announced an advanced version of the concept, GT-Matic Htm. IxH'k-uwuy center The programming con trols, located on the front of most color TV sets, are included in a lock-away control center in the Syl vania units. Only the on/ off, volume control and channel selector controls are outside the sets. The GT-Matic programming controls (color intensity, tint, contrast and bright ness) are installed in the tamper-proof control cen ter that opens and locks with a special key. Since viewing prefer ences differ and local transmitting conditions vary, you first unlock the conlfol center, adjust the programming contrdls to your liking and then re- lock the center. SyHtem "remembers" The GT-Matic tuning system "remembers" these preferences and helps keep the color the way you like it as you switch from channel to channel. Syl vania says you may never have to touch the set again, except to turn it on or off, raise or lower the volume or change chan nels. You won't be using a vertical hold control either because it doesn't exist in the GT-Matic sets. A tiny integrated circuit that can fit on the head of a pin acts like a computer to hold the picture steady, eliminating the need for the vertical control. Also, another integrated circuit monitors the horizontal hold control so you may never have to adjust for picture rolling. Most of the GT-Matic II receivers include a new Sylvania picture-tube -- the Dark Lite 50™ which absorbs room light and produces a bright, high contrast picture no matter how much light there is in the viewing area. Fast, easy service The circuits in the GT- Matic sets are grouped on three separate plug-in modules, so service is fast and easy, and often in the home. Most GT-Matic models are ready for cable tele vision.
