PAGE 4 - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY, JANUARY 31,1J75 QUEEN FINALIST (Continued from page 1) Fair title holder is Anette Unser, Miss Decatur-Macon county. Miss Humann was one of fifty county contestants taking part in the three-day competition in the new Forum XXX building. Saturday evening was devoted to personal interviews with six judges, getting acquainted, and rehearsals. On Sunday, the girls were divided into two groups of twenty-five each and Donna drew No. 24 in the first group. The girls then appeared in the afternoon preliminary judging which included a grand march onto the stage and in troductions of each contestant. For her evening gown competition, Miss Humann was striking 4n an orange sherbert- colored chiffon gown with floating skirt. Returning to the stage for the Sunday afternoon bathing suit judging, she selected a one-piece suit in Chinese red with matching shoes. Each girl also was required to give a brief talk about herself and her activities. Judges score sheets were turned in at the end of the day, rating the contestants on face, figure and personality on a point system. At a Monday brunch, the girls received queen pendants and many souvenirs. At the evening banquet, attended by 1,500 they made another appearance, when the ten finalists were named at random. Friends backing Donna enthusiastically greeted the reading of her name, last of the ten announced. Following the evening meal, the ten finalists repeated the same procedure of evening gown, bathing suit and in terview competition with new judges. Peggy Ann Maguire of Adams county was first runner- up and Miss Judy Willson, Miss DuPage county, was second runner-up. Dolfina, who will be 19 next week, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Humann. Her parents and sisters, Cathy, Mary, Meg and Barb, ac companied her to the contest, as well as other relatives and friends. Carl Stenger was president of the West McHenry State bank. These are the memories anniversary editions are made up of. Let's have some more, along with histories of treasured contributions to McHenry's past. One of McHenry's senior citizens who does considerable walking came into our office with a tip for motorists. He is very aware of dirty headlights on most cars and says these bulbs deteriorate much faster than clean ones. It has become his habit to clean a few each time he walks through a parking lot and observes the dirty film. It seems each of us might do that ourself. Clean headlights would also be a safety measure for drivers and pedestrians alike. One of the people who will probably most appreciate the Plaindealer's 100th an niversary edition will be 'William J. Klapperich, a for mer local resident now residing, in the Republic of South Africa. A letter received a few days ago carried the message, "Every time I hear the name McHenry I can see so many faces of relatives and friends I f VoodHous 3718 W. HOSPITAL SETS PATIENT RECORD FOR 1974 (Continued fom page 1) exerted a constant effort to economize without com promising the hgh level of patient care for which we are noted. Economies in areas such as administrative, fiscal and general services have been effected by the most efficient use of our personnel and technology. "Thus, while we have cared for a greater intensity of acutely ill patients, we continue to employ approximately the same number of supportive personnel. During 1974 our daily room rates were $55 for semi-private and $57 for private rooms in medical- surgical departments. Ac cording to American Hospital association statistics/, the average daily expense incurred by inpatients at McHenry hospital was $6.40 less than the average hospital of comparable size in Chicago." Mr. Corcoran's full report and the board of directors' announcement of future hospital plans will be presented at the annual meeting and dinner of the not-for-profit McHenry Hospital corporation Saturday evening, Feb. 1, at the McHenry Country club.
