Warriors Let Down, Bounce Back Strong To Defeat Kaneland 75-67 Bowling Notes By Dick Rabbitt After their important North Suburban win over North Chicago on Friday night, the Warriors were expected to have a letdown, and so they did in a mild sort of way. for the first time in many a moon the game did not start off with a jump ball at center court. A technical foul was assessed to a Warrior for dunking a ball in the pregame warmup. and the Knights of Kaneland were off to a good start. Making the free throw, and hitting baskets from long range, the Knights jumped off to an early 17 to 12 first quarter lead. In the second stanza balanced scoring by all five regulars enabled the Warriors to get back on their game and go into th# lockef room at the intermission leading 32 to 27, The third period saw a lot of points • being put on the scoreboard. With Zeller, Koerber and Reilly of the Warriors all hitting frequently, along with Ackerman and Turk of Kaneland, the Knights narrowed the margin to 5<Ho 51 going into the final period. That three point margin was the closest the Knights could get to the Warriors and the Warriors won 75 to 68. It was another great team effort. As expected by many the Warriors were weary from the tough game the night before. Playing a nonconference game, and especially a Class A school, the young lads of Coach Ludwig didn't seem to put it all together in the early stages of the contest. But pride and a fair^ Saturday night crowd spurrecT • hem on and enabled them to walk off the/loor with their 15th win of the season. Steve Koerber had another great night in the ^coring column; getting 29 points, and Marty Zeller picked up 16 to pace the Warrior victory. Defeat Kaneland On Saturday night the sophs had an easier time of it, as they easily defeated Kaneland 55 to 38. It was nice to see the genial young coach sit back and relax during a game, a rare occasion this season. Freshman A1 Reinboldt finally saw his efforts rewar ded, as the young Warrior put 18 points on the board to lead his team to a win.
