MARGARET O'NEIL Clerk of the Court (Pub. Feb. 5,12,19,1975) Co-Chairman Don Wolf and Gerald Sobiesk of the Education Programs com mittee reported that their committee has reviewed state guidelines for improving educational programs and the report of the last visit to the school by representatives of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction. This committee has had five meetings for the purpose of talking with department heads and school administration relative to the reviewing of the unique aspects of the quality, education program in the Johnsburg schools and how this program could be carried into a high school with continuing attention to individual needs. Secretary Barbara Stanell, of the State and Legal Aspects committee, reported that the Johnsburg area meets all of the legal requirements for the formation of a K-12 district. Mrs. Stanell further stated that in addition to satisfying the legal requirements, the proposed district must show a concern for education ad vantages for students in the area. Berne Clary, of the Facilities and Transportation committee, reported that the committee has reviewed requirements for housing the expected number of high school students with the education program as proposed by the Educational Programs committee. The committee is scheduling visits to the high schools to see what is being done in high school facility planning and construction. Dr. Stanell also stated that construction costs are in creasing every year. To build a new high school for the John sburg area would require more dollars than would be available from selling bonds. The state of Illinois may assist in the cost of building through' the Capital Development board.- The possibility of getting funding from this board is being in vestigated and will be reported further at the next meeting. Charles Boak said the Enrollment committee has determined that the Johnsburg district could eventually have a high school enrollment of ap proximately 900 students, with the present boundaries. The next meeting of the Feasibility committee was set for Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the Junior high school Materials center. Dean Mack of the Mlinois Office of Education will talk with the group about the implications of forming a K-12 district within the present District 12 boundaries. The Committee of Ten for petitioning for a unit district will determine procedures with respect to the petition and hearing at that time.
