"The goal for the McHenry county drive this year is $30,000. It has been decided by the McHenry County Heart association to have a luau dinner dance Saturday, Sept. 20. Present Defenders Goal To Children's Home Auxiliary The Woodstock Children's home auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. in the lounge of the Methodist church, corner of Crystal Lake and Dole avenues, in Crystal Lake. McHENRY , QfC. 8 Fine Program Awaits Garden Club Members Keeping in mind that Spring is just around the corner, Whispering Oaks Garden club members are looking forward to a program, "Organic Gar­ dening and conservation", Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. at the Community center. The McHenry County Defenders will present a most interesting and enlightening in-depth discussion on these two im­ portant aspects of ecology. Sherry Anderson, coor­ dinator, and Louis E. Marchi will be the speakers. Mr. Marchi is a well known soil expert and will inform and advise of soil conditions in the McHenry area. Among sub­ jects to be discussed are r e c y c l i n g , r e s o u r c e reclamation, home remedies for mishaps, natural controls for effective and non­ destructive alternatives to pesticides and aiding individual environmental action. This program will be preceded by a brief business meeting. The nominating committee will present a slate for the new officers to be elected next month. Plans are in the making for the Garden club to begin a long range beautification program for the Community center. In the months to come the grounds will be enhanced with ad­ ditional shrubs and flowers. The club will also be cooperating with Aldermen George Harker and Jack Pepping to assist their plans for making the park at the en­ trance to Whispering Oaks on Route 120 a lovely asset to the community. Rkscue Squad Demonstration At Johnsburg Members of the Johnsburg Rescue squad will give a C.P.R. demonstration at the Feb. 18 meeting of St. Agatha Court No. 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters at Johnsburg. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. in the Community club hall. It is hoped that as many members as possible will attend this very informative demonstration which includes slides and dummies.
