Exciting Array Of Artists For Valley Concert Season The Fox Valley Music association has announced an exciting array of artists for the 1975-76 concert season. The Blue Series will consist of the Boris Goldovsky H)pera Theatre presenting Mozart's "Don Giovanni", duo-pianists Stecher and Horowitz, and the Johann Strauss ensemble of the Vienna symphony. Mozart's "Don Giovanni", with its unique combination of merry comedy, suspenseful drama, and its melodic arias and duets, known and loved by millions, will be sung in English, fully staged, with specially designed sets and costumes. The company of fifty, with orchestra, will be in Elgin Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. The American duo-piano team of Stecher and Horowitz have been hailed as two of the brightest stars of the keyboard. They have been credited with sparking a major revival of interest in the two-piano con cert. During the past two decades they have performed a remarkable variety of new music as well as the traditional masterpieces for two pianos for audiences throughout the world. FVMA members can hear them Jan. 25, 1976, at 3:30 p.m. The third attraction on the Blue Series will be the Johann Strauss ensemble. The members of the ensemble, all of whom" are born and trained in Vienna, are First Desk men with the internationally famous Vienna Symphony Founded in 1965, for the sole purpose of interpreting the immortal music of the Strauss family in its original form, they simulate the kind of orchestra with which Johann Strauss, Jr., was associated. They also play the classical dances of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert as well as special versions of rarely heard waltzes and polkas. They will make their appearance in 1976. The Red Series will present the George Shearing quintet, Vienna Choir boys, and the Czechoslovakian Folk ballet. Opening the Red Series Oct. 26 will be London-born jazz and classical pianist, George Shearing, and his ensemble of four outstanding musicians on the guitar, string bass, drums, and vibraphone. George Shearing has created an in ternational reputation for his musical talent as pianist, arranger, and composer. Since he is equally at home on the classical concert stage as well as on the jazz night-club stand, his programs consist of a little of each style - the classical and the popular. One of the oldest and most a p p e a l i n g m u s i c a l organizations in the world, the Vienna Choir boys, will be making their thirty-first tour of North America and will appear in Elgin next Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. This season the comic one-act Opera, "Abu Hassan," by Carl Maria von Weber will be performed in full costume. Sacred and secular songs will be sung, including Austrian folk songs, and as a grande finale, the boys present a selection by the Waltz King himself, Johann Strauss II. The third and final concert on the Red Series will be the Czechoslovakian Folk ballet. A large and handsome company, representing the best among Czechoslovakia's folk dancers and virtuoso musicians, presents theatrically exciting dances in costume and music, representative of all the regions of Czechoslovakia. They will appear in 1976. All concerts of the Fox Valley Music Association are held in the Hemmens auditorium in the Civic center in Elgin. It should be noted that memberships are sold for either or both series and no tickets are sold for a single event. Memberships for both the Red and Blue series went on sale Feb. 17 and con- ' tinue until all memberships are sold or until the deadline, March 12. Those who wish to *^enew their membership or become a member may write to Fox Valley Music association. 200 River Bluff road, Elgin, 111., 60120.
