"Meets such as these have helped the art of Karate come into its own as an amateur as well as a professional sport". Crown is currently tied with Dundee for last place in the conference race with Dundee with a 1 and 9 record. They are led by 8th place scorer Dale Bernhard. The Vikings cannot be taken too lightly. Last season they won only one conference game, and that against the Warriors that knocked them down to third place. As one can see by the upsets in the North Suburban, any team can win on a given night, regardless of the record. Let's show our appreciation for this fine team by coming out and giving them a rousing cheer for their efforts this season. As I have said many times before you won't be sorry. Just ask the Dundee fans about this fine ball club, along with 18 other schools. They will tell you that the Warriors are for real and mean business when they get on the floor. Frosh "B" Bombers Beat Young Broncos Of Barrington 51-47 Jumping off to a 12 to 3 first quarter lead the McHenry frosh B squad Bombers won their 7th game of the season by defeating Barrington 51 to 47. With Steve Bazan, Tim Beyers, Steve Cable, Dan Lindahl and Jeff Meyers all contributing to the effort the young Warriors hung on after a disastrous 2nd period to lead 27 to 24 at the intermission. Dan Allison and Jim Pinkstaff combined for 22 pts in the second half that led to a Warrior win. John Weingart played three quarters of fine hustle basketball, combined with the rebounding of Lindahl, Beyers and Pinkstaff that enabled the B's to win. Coach Pat Wirtz used his entire squad in the game. SCORES Allison 5 3 13 Bazan 1 0 2 Beyers 2 0 4 Cable 2 0 4 Frisby 0 0 0 Lindahl 3 0 6 Myers, Jeff 1 0 2 Meyers, John 0 0 0 Miller. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) Warriors In Home Final Saturday Night By Dick Rabbitt Still flying high from last weekend's two big conference wins, the "Fighting Warriors" of Coach Ken Ludwig close out the home season tomorrow night against Crown. To add to the occasion it will be "Parent Night". The players, cheerleaders, and their parents will be honored at pre-game ceremonies, and for treats after the game in the school cafeteria. The Warriors still trailing the ZeeBees by a game will be going out after their 20th win of the season. In checking the records no McHenry high team has won 20 games since Cliff Fulton's championship five back in the 1958-59 season. Gene Dobyns tells us the Yegges ran into a blizzard out there in Arizona. Harold "ZEKE" Bacon (Chamber of Commerce promoter) never told us about those blizzards. We thought the only storm to hit Arizona was the Chicago Cubs -- and they are a mild storm. Have been kind of busy. Afraid the snow will be gone before we get our skis out. Met Tom Creutz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Creutz, at the Johnsburg pancake breakfast and learned that he is the fisherman in the family. We will be watching to see how Tom does in the McCullom Lake ice fishing derby. Had oatmeal for breakfast one day this week and it brought back memories.
