STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Church Women United World Day of Prayer, a celebration of the Church Worflen United of Lake Region, planning meeting was held at Faith Presbyterian church Feb. 14 at 9:30 a.m. with representatives of the McHenry area churches. This year's theme is "Become Perfectly One" and was written by Christian sisters in Egypt. It is to be held March 7 at Faith Presbyterian church at Chapel Hill and Lincoln roads in McHenry. The Fellowship coffee hour is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and services are at 10 a.m. There is baby sitting available at the church. Church Women United also is having services at St. Thomas Catholic church in Crystal Lake at 1 p.m. and in Woodstock at the First Baptist church at 10 a.m. K of C Plans Fine Evening Of Entertainment hypnotist, who has been seen on many programs in the Chicago area. Also a part of the evening's entertainment will be Kealani and her South Sea Island dancers. This group comes from Chicago with fire dancing, island songs, hula dancing, comics, etc. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any K. of C. member or by calling 385-0258 or 385-7094. COMMUNION SUNDAY Corporate Communion for St. Agatha Court No. 777, National Catholic Society of Foresters at Johnsburg, will be observed at On Saturday, March 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., McHenry County, college will sponsor a workshop for divorced women to be held at the Bethany Lutheran church annex, 66 West Crystal Lake avenue, Crystal Lake. The workshop is free, and open to all interested women. The program will consist of two parts. From 9 a.m. to noon, a group of professional women will present important in­ formation relevant to the needs of divorced women. These include a lawyer, represen­ tatives from the credit bureau and public arid bffice, the MCC financial aids director, an MCC Adult Education counselor- instructor, and a social worker. After lunch, a panel of divorced women will share their experiences of going through divorce, and the Vickie Brefeld, Robert Raw Tell Wedding Plans Mr. and Mrs. George Brefeld, 418 Glenwood, Round Lake, announce the engagement of their daughter, Vickie Lee, to Robert Thomas Raw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil R. Raw, 1912 Hillside, Round Lake. Vickie Lee is the grand­ daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brusso, formerly of McHenry and now residing in Fifield, Wis. A 1973 graduate of Bryman School in Chicago she is employed as a medical assistant. The groom-to-be is attending the University of Wisconsin, Parkside, in Kenosha. The young couple has set Oct. 25 as their wedding date. Professor Will Address University Women The March meeting of the American Association of University Women will be held Monday night, March 3, at 8 p.m. at the home of Carol Wheeland, 2130 South Shore drive, Crystal Lake. "U.S. Foreign Policy and the World Food Problems" is the topic for this meeting. Professor Erwin C. Cornelius will be the speaker. He has taught Political Science, French and German at McHenry County college, of which he is a charter member. Cornelius received his college education at the In­ stitute of European Studies in Paris, the Sorbonne in Paris, the Interpreters' institute in Munich, Germany, the University of Illinois, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He holds advanced degrees in French from Mid- dlebury College, Paris, France, and in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin. Currently he is completing requirements for the doctorate at Northwestern university. the 9 o'clock Mass Sunday, March 2, in St. John's church. This is for both adult and junior members. Breakfast will be served at the Community club hall following Mass. There will be ample opportunity for discussion and participation in some group experiences which will be facilitated by a psychologist, Michael Hurt. The workshop is coordinated by counselors, Sue Halaska and Cindy Tucker, with assistance from the Office of Community Services. The Department of ^Illinois Ladies auxiliary, V.F.W., set up a Child Welfare program in 1944 to give financial assistance with doctor and hospital bills to children from birth to 16 years of age, of V.F.W. and auxiliary members, who were ill or otherwise disabled, but were able to be restored (on a doc­ tor's recommendation) to a normal way of life. Through the generous support of auxiliary members, they were able in recent years to enlarge on the program to include care for children of any veteran. Illinois is the only state in the Ladies Guild To Plan March Dinner St. Patrick's Ladies' guild will meet at 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the church hall. Mrs. Isabelle Pierce and her committee will be in charge of the social hour. Plans will be made for the annual St. Patrick's Feast day corned beef and cabbage dinner Sunday, March 16, with serving from 1 to 4 p.m. Ladies auxiliary, V.F.W., with such a program. Auxiliaries are asked to contribute 50 cents per member through con­ tributions from auxiliary members, as well as from auxiliary funds. The Fox River Ladies auxiliary to Post 4600 of McHenry, under the direction of Vi Schuble, auxiliary chairman, with members, will contribute to the program. Mrs. Arthur Roche, state chairman, announces that if a case is brought to the attention of an auxiliary, a request for application should be made to her. Upon receipt of the form, all information should be supplied, with names, ad­ dresses and zip codes printed or typed. It should be returned to the state chairman, and she will contact the doctors and hospitals to determine the facts in the case.
