If you haven't already gotten your garden tools, trimmers and mower in shape for spring work--do it now. Carefully oil and see that Tips For The Homemaker Here are five tips to save energy from Pat Frank, McHenry Extension adviser in Home Economics. -Don't preheat your oven unless you are baking foods that contain baking powder- cakes, biscuits, and cookies, for example. -When using glass or glass ceramic baking dishes, lower oven heat by 25 degrees. -Keep your oven door closed while the heat's on. Don't constantly "peek" at foods. -If you have an electric range, you can turn the oven off during the last five minutes of baking time. Reserved oven heat will continue to bake your food. -Use your oven to capacity. Prepare several items at a time, either for one meal or for several meals. HOME By April Rhodes all power tools are in safe working condition. v Early spring is the best time to plant and establish lawns. Some shady and un even ground does best with an evergreen cover other than grass. If you have a bare, drab- looking wall in your bath room-hang your children's baby pictures in that spot. Use inexpensive black frames for grouping or one large frame with several pictures placed in it.
