I don't remember the occasion of this picture, since I was the baby. But I do remember Great Aunt Sara very vividly and she was quite a girl! She was what they call a "pillar of the church." She must have baked an astronomical number of chicken pies for church suppers and served on almost every committee at one time or another. You might say she was pious, a word we don't usually care for. What I mean is that she revered her God and loved Him. She also had a tremendous sense of humor. I remember she used to tell the funniest stories. The point is this. So often people mistake religious fervor for a certain "holier than thou" attitude. They don't believe that humor and religion go together. But Aunt Sara proved them wrong. The Church encompasses all of life--humor and wit--as well as love and compas­ sion . . and so much more! The first part of the work will consist of installing a large drain sewer in the beach area. Residents are reminded of the ordinance pertaining to garbage disposal All garbage cans must have lids, and must be put out and put away only on collection day. The theme is "What is the spirit of '76"? and must be from 150 to 200 words. There'll be three grade categories, first to fourth, fifth to eighth, and ninth to twelfth, with winners from each group receiving savings bonds. Essays may be sent to the Secretary of State, before the deadline of June 1. Those en­ tering must include their school name and grade level.. It will take place on Thursday evening April 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building in Lakemoor. VILLAGE MEETING During the Village of Lakemoor Board of Directors meeting it was brought up that the village should go back to holding two meetings a month, since several special meetings are called regarding the sewer project. Also during this meeting a paint committee was organized by Edna Garbacz. To date the paint troop consists of President Hyatt and the majority of the board mem­ bers. A group of women volunteers are going to cook and serve a dinner to the painters.
