Gait, Jr., center, resigned as chapter chairman after serving efficiently for the past eight years. Lorrin E. Woodman, left, of Crystal Lake was unanimously elected chapter chairman. He presented Gait with a certificate of appreciation and a desk paper weight with the Red Cross emblem and insignia on it. Mrs. Rose Johnson, right, national and division representative of Illiana division of Red Cross attended the meeting. Four new board members were elected: Curtis F. Proud and William E. Schultz of Woodstock; Daniel Fry of McHenry and Mrs. Russell Griffith of Crystal Lake. The annual theater benefit at Shady Lane, Marengo, will be held Thursday evening, May 15. Tickets are available at American Red Cross headquarters in Woodstock. Eastwood Manor f Mary Ann Bellak 385-5705 Local Resident Elected To Grade School Board 15 The Eastwood Manor residents would like to congratulate Terence "Terry" Howard on winning his position on the Grade School Board of Education, District No. 15. He has been a resident of East­ wood Manor for several years. This past Saturday evening the Howards had a small get together with some of their relatives and friends in Eastwood Manor. The Roy Hoffmanns, Bob Gramers, and Jerry Bellaks were a few of their guests. Everyone really had a nice time, the Howards saw to that! FIRST PLACE At present and hopefully until the end of the season Terri Melone's bowling team is en­ joying the position of first place in the league. Good luck Terri! Coach Ron Melone of Fair- view Lane will have his first practice of the season for his Mini-League team on Monday night. He is very hopeful for a more than terrific season with his new ball players. Good luck Coach Melone. ATTEND WEDDING The Ron Melones recently attended a wedding in Chicago (Downtown) this past Sunday evening. They really had a ball! VOLLEYBALL Ladies in the subdivision have been playing volleyball up at Hilltop school on Thursday evenings, I was recently in­ formed that June 5 will be the last night. There are several weeks left so we hope to see more of you out there if at all possible. If you have any questions feel free to call at anytime. FAIRVIEW ROAD Several of the residents of Fairview Lane (where the B.K.T. houses are located) have been working very hard at trying to get the road fixed and also have some of those vacant houses boarded up. They have recently attended two meetings, if you would like to get involved in this situation give me a call and I will contact someone who will be able to fill you in on all the details. Get involved in your area, it will benefit all of you. 12" SLOW PITCH BASEBALL TEAM This year Jerry Bellak's team will have two sponsors, Jerry Phillip's 66, the same as last year, and the shirts will have the other sponsor's name on which will be Mr. K's Pizza and Lounge. They have had two or three practice sessions where several of the ball players attended. Norby Adams stopped by the other day to discuss the team with Jerry. Norby is the assistant manager of the team this year. Both Bellak and Adams are looking forward to winning Jake's and taking over first place. Spring Grove know, it is very important that you do this. WOMEN'S SOFTBALL Take notice all you women and teenage girls who would like to play softball please call Cathy Boro at 385-3343 before Thursday of this week is ter­ minated. We will play behind West campus on Tuesday evening, there is no charge, and you can bring your children along if you like. So remember to please call Cathy by this THURSDAY if you're in­ terested! Ginny Howard, Terri Melone, Debbie Hoffman, Inga Gramer, and myself are some of the women from Eastwood Manor who will be playing softball. Also I would like to ask you if any of your husbands might like to volunteer to help coach the women. GRAVEL PIT There will be another hearing for the proposed gravel pit on Chapel Hill Road on May 15, at 2 Thursday. Please plan on attending if at all possible. ATTEND HOUSEWARMING Last week Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmitt's name was accidentally omitted from the Liberia, Africa, was founded by the U.S. Government, as a home for freed slaves. The capital was named Monrovia, after President Monroe. Eva Freund Lotus Club Honors Past Presidents On Wednesday, April 16, members of the Lotus Country Woman's'Club met at the town hall for their regular meeting. Twenty-five members and one guest present. A chicken dinner was served and decorations were in keeping with "Spring Showers". Meeting was opened ' by President Kay Smith with a pledge of allegiance to the flag and a Federation club song. She thanked the committee in charge. A welcome was extended the Past Presidents, Frances Shotliff, Beulah Karls, Frances Heinemann and Pauline Horak. Other Past Presidents were unable to attend due to illness. Corresponding Secretary read a letter from Family Service and Mental Health Clinic of McHenry County. Psychological and counseling aid is available by ap­ pointment. Phone - 385-6400. An invitation to Reciprocity Night from Wonder Lake Women's club was extended the club to be held April 17. Letters were read from the Federation on Community Improvement Projects and from the General Federation on 675-2135 Community BeautTTication Programs for business buildings, landscaping, etc. to be sponsored by the club. A report was given by Sun­ shine Chairman Emma Katt- ner on cards sent to members who were iU„ .Chairman Tippy Klein spoke on Bi-Centennial projects and a committee was formed. Those on the com­ mittee are Beulah Karls, Frances Heinemann, Dolores Ellefsen and Louise Miller. Birthday greetings were given in song to Sue Popelka, Kay Smith, Pauline Horak and Dorothy Orsolini. A report was given on the District 4 Federation Board Meeting held on March 31. The certificates of award presented at that meeting were shown. The club received these awards for their reports on Public Affairs and Home Life. Plans were com­ pleted for the District 4 Board Meeting at St. Peter's hall on May 28. Arrangements for the Sep­ tember card party were discussed. The nominating committee headed by Pauline Horak, chairman, presented as their slate of officers the reelection of Jean Lay as treasurer and Eva Freund as recording secretary. There were no nominations from the floor. An unanimous vote was made that these officers be accepted as presented. Delegates will attend the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs convention and reser­ vations have been made. To honor the past presidents, President Kay Smith presented them with a bouquet of jonquils. Frances Heinemann read a history of the club when it was first organized in 1911 with Mrs. Ethlyn Hatch as president, to the present time. All the past presidents gave interesting highlights on events and programs given during their term of office. The next meeting will be May 21, in­ stallation of officers. GOLDEN WEDDING APRIL 21 Congratulations to Ben and Frances Busch on their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Friends and relatives attended open house at St. Peter's hall on Saturday, April 19. CLUB MEETS Members of her club met at the home of Mrs. Marie Miller in Fox Lake on Thursday evening, April 3. A dessert lunch was served and cards were played. Prizes went to Mrs. Emma Kattner, Mrs. Marie Miller and Mrs. Frances Prosser. The club will meet next at the home of Mrs. Eldred Johnson in Woodstock on May 1. CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE Father John L. Daleiden celebrated the fiftieth an­ niversary of his ordination to the priesthood at a Mass of WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 1975 Thanksgiving at 5 p.m. Wed­ nesday, April 16, in St. Anne church, Dixon. His first pastoral assignment was at St. Mary, Elizabeth, 111. In 1933 he became pastor of St. Peter's, Spring Grove, and served tthere for 26 years. He was pastor at St. Joseph, Freeport, from 1959 until his retirement. Father retired in November, 1972, after 47 years of service in the diocese. He now lives at Our Lady, of Angels Retirement Home in Joliet. GARDEN CLUB SPRING LUNCHEON At the annual spring lun­ cheon held at Holiday park, Ingleside, the Fox Lake Garden Club held installation of of­ ficers. Installing Officer was Mrs. Lucille Rinda. Officers are Mrs. Aurelia Brady, president; Mrs. Veronica Klein, first vice-president; Mrs. Lavergne Pertile, second vice-president; Mrs. Marjorie Kamin, » secretary; Mrs. Mildred Sanford, treasurer; Mrs. Ella Williams, corresponding secretary. A fresh flower table decoration was awarded to Mrs. Alice Thomas. Next meeting will be on May 8 at Moose Hall, Fox Lake. Program: May hats.
