MC 84 AN ORDINANCE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF McHENRY, ILLINOIS, as follows: Section 1: That Chapter 14 of the Municipal Code of the City of McHenry, Illinois, be and the same is hereby amended by adding thereto Article XIr relating to Fences, as follows: ARTICLE XI Fences Section 48. Permit. No fence may be erected in the City unless a permit is obtained in advance and unless such fence is erected in compliance with the provisions of this Fence Ordinance. Section 49. Residential Fences. The following stan­ dards shall be followed in con­ structed on premises used for residential purposes: a. No fence shall be erected on a front lot line or anywhere in fhe"frent yard. b.-Sidejard fences may not exceed 4 feet in height from ground l©rel and rear yard fences may not exceed 6 feet in height from ground level, except that where residential premises abut onto premises used for business or industrial purposes, a fence not to exceed 8 feet in height from ground level may be erected. c. The use of barbed wire in residential fencing is prohibited. Section 50. Industrial, Commercial and Non- Residential Fences. Section 51. The following additional standards shall also be followed in connection with all fences: a. All fence posts and sup­ porting fence members shall be erected so that after the fence is constructed they will face to the interior of the premises for which the fence permit is issued. b. All chain link fencing must be installed knuckleside up; the use of spikes, broken glass, or other snarp or pointed in­ struments or materials in­ tended or likely to cause injury to 4ny person coming into contact therewith is prohibited. c. Electrified fences, snow fences, chicken wire, hdg and farm-type fences are prohibited. d. No stone, masonry or concrete fence shall be con­ structed unless it is supported by a foundation and footing which shall extend at least 42 inches below the finished grade of the ground on both sides of the fence. An ac­ curate sketch showing the proposed location of the fence on the premises shall be fur­ nished to the Superintendent of Public Works at the time ap­ plication is made for the permit to erect such fence. Section 56. Penalty. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Article XI shall be subject to a fine of not less than ! 25.00 nor more than $500.00. Section 2: All Ordinances or parts thereof in conflict with the terms and provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. Section 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as Dy law provided. April 25,1975) Legal Notice NOTICE OF SALE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY BY MUNICIPALITY Pursuant to ordinance duly passed and adopted on April 15, 1975, the Board of Trustees will receive and open bids for sale of the 1972 Village of Richmond Police squad car and of a dump truck owned by the Village. Such bid opening will take place at the regular meeting of the President and Board on May 6, 1975. The car to be sold by the Village is a 1972 Plymouth 4 door Fury II. The truck to be sold by the Village is a 1953 Dodge, with reversible snow plow and five yard dump box. All bids shall be in writing, sealed, and mailed or delivered to the Richmond Village Clerk, c-o Village Hall, 10308 Main Street, Richmond, Illinois 60071, no later than 7:30 P.M. May 6, 1975. The Board of Trustees reserves the privilege to reject any and all bids, or call for further bids. Possession of the said vehicles and transfer of title to the automobile will be made immediately upon receipt of the sales price. Due to then existing title laws, there is no title to the dump truck, but the Village will give a Bill of Sale thereto and will cooperate in performance of any titling requirements now set by law. Snore drive, McHenry, was honored earlier this month at the annual awards program of the College of Business, Nor­ thern Illinois university. Miss Basel received the National Business Education association award of merit. It honors "a scholastically outstanding student with potential to be an o u t s t a n d i n g B u s i n e s s Education teacher". Miss Basel, a graduate of McHenry high school, did her student teaching at Crystal Lake. DEANERY MEETING Father Arthur McKay, pastor of St. Paul Episcopal church, Father William O. Hanner and Father James Plankey, both retired, all of McHenry, attended the annual meeting of the Waukegan deanery last Thursday at Grayslake. The priests had an opportunity to discuss matters of general interest with Bishop Quentin Primo, assistant Bishop of Chicago.
