Lakemoor-Lilymoor Alma Hueckstaedt 385-5689 Face Lift Given Village Building By Two Workers The municipal building on Rte. 120 in Lakemoor is getting a complete face lift. At the present time there are two young men acquired through the man power grant, who are painting the trim on the building. They will be painting the folding chairs, afterward they will put their efforts forth and clean up the beaches, the lakefront. roadways and the right-of-ways. McCullom Lake also has one man so far working in community through the same program. There is a possibility of Lakemoor having the services of these men all summer. PAINJERSAND COOKS On April 27 the painters began to change the looks of the municipal building. They opened their paint cans and got a firm hold onto their brushes and they gave the walls and ceiling the old one-two. The volunteer painters were rewarded with a dinner cooked by other volunteers. Those who took part in the renovation were Ed Bolda, Kay Embro, Frank Ernest of Chicago, Curt Herman and Ronald Freeman, George Garbacz, Bill Gatschet of Round Lake. Harry Grand of Chicago, Richard Hyatt, Norman Morrison, Les Ned- jedly, Tom Reese and Sonny Withrow. The other volunteers were Karen Douglas, Lenora and Ruth Freeman, Edna Garbacz, Alyce Kowal, Diane Madenis. Pat Morrison, Barb Nedjedly, Sue Reese and Susie Thomas. TERRIBLE ACT OF CRUELTY One family is minus a pet either bv accident or bv the hand of someone who needs help very very badly. My (laughter and I found a cat that had literally been hung. A member of the family told me he had taken the cat to school. He had put a light weight chain around the cat's neck and on the way home it had gotten away from him, from the way we found him it looked as though someone had entwined the chain around and through a bush, raising the cat partially off the ground and that is how the cat died. If someone was responsible for that cruel act they are SICK-SICK-SICK. It makes you wonder - Will they pick on a child the next time? IN CLOSING Call me if you have any newsworthy items you would like to share with other readers. Over 300 elementary and junior high students in thirteen area schools - participated recently in the state-wide smoking poster contest, sponsored jointly by the DuPage-McHenry Lung association in Woodstock and the Illinois Lung association in Springfield.
