Passed at this meeting was an ordinance establishing the new fines for overweight vehicles during the period when the lower weight limits are posted. Proposed ordinances discussed and to be brought up for discussion and vote next meeting arje "No parking zones" on the north side of Beach Drive and the east side of Riverside Drive at the park area, "No Boat Launching" at the Beach and "Charcoal only" type fires at the beach. It was recommended to the building inspector that he inform residents wishing to pave driveways that an. engineering study of the rightaway ditches is going to be made within the next two months and that there might exist the possibility of the section over the rightaway being torn up in the event of a major change in the ditch depth on their block. The survey should be completed by July 1 and then the decision as to what work will be done and when it will be done will be made by the board. Parks and Beach Chairman Mr. Henderlong reported that light poles have been secured for the park area and will be installed soon. Also new swing seats and chains will be pur chased. Mrs. Lillegard stated that Jeff Hoffman has not been asked to resign as planning commission chairman and that even though his house is for sale he plans to relocate within the village. Wooden poles have been cut and installed along the north edge of the beach property. Chain will be hung between these posts to form an at tractive boundary marker. Several cable spools have been secured from a utility company and will be painted for use as tables in the park. Representatives of the Shoreline Club submitted to the board the club's proposal for building a footpath bridge and the purchase of a piece of playground equipment from the proceeds of the forth coming garage sale NEWS BITS During the Clean-up weekend of June 7 dumpsters will be located along Biscayne Road in Unit 5 and on Orchid Path in Unit 1. A chipper will be in the village on Saturday June 7 and those with branches to be disposed of should stack them on the rightaways in front of their property with the large end of the branches facing the street. Please do not put them out until a day or two before pickup or they will be scattered all over the streets. During last Thursday evening's baseball game a child was seen hanging on the top of the backstop kicking in the wire section. It is costing all of us a lot of time and money to maintain nice recreational facilities. If they continue to be destroyed the repair and replacement will have to stop. It amazed me that with all those present no one stopped this child. Also the amount of litter left at the ballfield each Thursday is terrible. If you carry the cans full to the game you can carry the empties ^ home or put them in the litter i barrel. The litter has been removed from the vacant lots in preparation for mowing. Last year a near tragedy occurred when a piece of metal thrown in a vacant lot was hurled by the mower across the street and through the storm door of a house. There is an ordinance against littering and it will be enforced. This is not only to keep the vacant lots from looking like trash dumps but for the safety of all. SHORELINE NOTES A flyer with details on the garage sale has been distributed. A typographical error was made on the phone number of the bake sale chairman it should have read Alice Lawson, 344-1259. The tickets for the ballgame trip to Brewers Stadium in Milwaukee on July 13 to see the Brewers and the White Sox have been received. A registration form with prices for this trip will be out in a couple of weeks. A bowling party for youngsters 10-14 is being planned for June 25 at McHenry Recreation. More information next week. Help us make the garage sale a big success. Get your items ready and bring them to 3101 Kinley between May 17 and May 21. Call Mrs. Lawson to donate baked goods.
