The game was played at McCracken Field on Thursday night. In an earlier game this season the ZeeBees won 1 to 0. Once again it was the aces of the pitching staffs that hooked up in a thrilling duel. Butch Monaghan of the ZeeBees limited the Warriors to just 3 hits, while Dave Wickenkamp of the Warriors allowed 9. The loss leaves the Warriors with a 18 and 6 record with Crown on Tuesday, and a makeup doubleheader some time next week with Liber tyville. The day has often been referred to as Decoration Day since it has been a tradition to decorate graves of our loved ones. When we think of this day being set aside to honor the memory of those who gave their lives in military service for our country, it seems we should speak of "observing" the day rather than "celebrating" a holiday. Looking ahead on our calendar, we note that summer starts June 21. What's this we have been having'.' If you want to cross Elm St. in a car or afoot where there isn't a signal light -- prav a little. Another girl who is looking forward to a Blessed Event reminds us that she worked for us when her first child was born and -- "You begged me to come back to work." We've had all kinds of problems with these young gals. One quit three times -- every time a child was born. But. she came back each time. To the gal who protested, we offered to run a before and after picture of her. Haven't seen a picture so far. JSS FROM TONES Let your child experience the joy of performing in the school band. Class "B" Betty Kirk and Judy Schmitt tied both having 33, WENDY ULICK EARL We hate to think where our Sox would be without Rich Gossage. He's the greatest game saver in tthe game today. If our friend Terry Forster returns to his top form,. the other teams might as well fold up their tents and silently steal away. Our neighbors, the Ford Hanfords, caught so many fish in Wisconsin last week that they are going to have to restock the lakes. That big fellow, John Busscher, never looked so good as he did Friday night at McHenry Country Club -- dressed in a beautiful green outfit. (He's a "Kraut", you know). Some reports may not make your sports page this issue due to the holiday. We'll try to catch up for Friday. <
