The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George J. Miller of 3809 W. Waukegan road, McHenry. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Oeffling, Jr., of 4001 N. Dolores, Johnsburg. The couple will make their new home on Green street, McHenry, when they return from their honeymoon. Two From City Exhibitors At Open Spectrum Robert Tucker and Don Hodges of McHenry are exhibitors in Open Spectrum, the twenty-first annual awards exhibit at the Libertyville Arts center. The exhibit combines an outdoor art fair with a serious, juried exhibition in doors. Both the traditional view of realism and the con temporary vision are represented. Wandering musicians, a children's play, clowns, and a chance to explore the historical landmark home and grounds of David Adler, one of Chicago's well-loved architects, are all a part of the opening day's ac tivities. Open Spectrum begins Sunday, June 29, noon to 6 p.m. The juried section continues Sundays, July 6 and 13. There is no admission fee for either section. Closed Sunday Miss Pitzen Lovely Bride Patricia E. Pitzen of 3904 W. Grove avenue, McHenry, was a pretty bride as she walked down the aisle to meet her bridegroom, Glenn -H. May of 1401 Cottonwood lane, Mount Prospect, at the altar of St. Mary's Catholic church Saturday, June 21. The Rev. Joseph Kulak officiated at the 2:30 afternoon Mass in a church decorated with white gladioli and light blue mums. Miss Pitzen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore N. Pitzen of McHenry. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Alfred W. May of 9403 N. Solon road, Richmond. The bride chose a floor length gown of white miramist financed with Venice lace and blue ribbon. The bodice was fashioned with a ruffled V- neckline, long teacup sleeves and an A-line skirt with back fullness which trailed into a chapel length train. A small lace and blue ribbon cap held her imported illusion veil. Miss Kathleen Pitzen of Milwaukee, Wis., attended her sister as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss An nette Pitzen of McHenry, the bride's sister, Mrs. Judy Buss Dobner of DesMoines, la., and Miss Jeannie Phannenstill of McHenry, friends of the bride, Christy May of Wheeling, the groom's sister, Mrs. Beverly May of Spring Grove, the groom's sister-in-law and Miss Carol Hamm of Rushville. The attendants wore floor length halter gowns with matching short sleeved jackets fashioned of qiana jersey in rainbow colors. Each carried a basket of vari-colored daisies and carnations. Ken May of Spring Grove, served his brother as best man. Groomsmen were Andrew May of Richmond, the groom's brother, John and Ted Pitzen, bro!hers of the bride, Dennis Dauter of Raleigh, N.C., Daniel Rippeto of Mount Prospect and Leo Ribordy of Des Plaines. Albert May, the groom's brother, served as usher along with Mike Pitzen, the bride's brother, who also served as commentator. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Pitzen chose a floor length aqua polyester dress with long sleeves. The groom's mother wore a formal length mint green dress of qiana jersey with a matching jacket. Following the nuptial ceremony, a reception was held for 275 guests at the McHenry V.F.W. hall. When the couple returns from a honeymoon trip to the Pocono Mountains and Cape Cod, they plan to make their home in West Dundee. Since the best preparation for successful breastfeeding is said to be a joyful, happy birth, with the cooperation of the father, the film, "Childbirth for the Joy of It," is a valuable educational experience. There will also be a discussion and slide showing on Childbirth by accredited Lamaze instructor, Marie Walters. v" For further information about the films or La Leche League, call Mrs. Robert (Julie) Jessup. 1930 St. Mary's School Class In June Reunion The 1930 class of St. Mary's parochial school held its forty- fifth year class'reunion Sunday, June 22, at the Jerome Stein- bach residence in McHenry. A cocktail hour was held, followed by a pot-luck supper, before which movies were shown of the first reunion in 1955. Attending were Elvera Smith Rudolph, Evelyn Justen Steinbach, Clara Justen Klapperich, Marion Weingart Anderson, Catherine Diedrich Thiel, Mary Sutton Wesson, Bernice Freund, Jeanette Bishop and Harold Phan nenstill, their husbands and wives. Three of the class are now deceased, Jeanne Powers, George Vales and Willis Schreiner, who will be remembered in a Mass arranged by classmates who attended the reunion. Another reunion has been scheduled for September of 1980. American Legion Auxiliary News UNIT NO. 491 By Pearl Cooper President, Lauretta Homo presided at the June meeting of the McHenry unit of the American Legion auxiliary, with twenty members present. After the usual opening ceremonies ol the pledge of allegiance, reciting of the Preamble of the American Legion auxiliary and the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner", the chairmen gave their reports. The Rehabilitation chairman announced that the unit had received $583.45 in credit for the May 20 party, hosting the veterans from Elgin hospital. She thanked all the members for their help and their donations. Community Service Chairman Helen Birmingham, announced that she and several auxiliary members tagged for the Salvation Army. Lauretta Homo gave the district convention report and passed out all the awards received at the convention to Pearl Cooper for her first place in the Press Book competition; Grace Latimer for her best report in the Children and Youth program; Ruth Mrachek for the best scrapbook in the Foreign Relations program; Lorraine Freund, for an award in the Coupon program; and to Marie Howe for her con tributions and help in the Veterans Rehabilitation program. Delegates were appointed to the Department convention to be held in July at the Pick- Congress hotel. Lauretta Homo, Betty Lou Smith, Pearl Cooper and Evelyn Osmon were to be delegates representing the McHenry unit. A letter of resignation was read from Sue Wirfs, resigning from the office of president. The members elected Evelyn Osmon as the new president. Marge Datz and Eleanore Reid will serve as Mrs. Osmon's secretaries. Betty Wehrheim will serve as assistant sergeant-at-arms. It was announced that in stallation of new officers will be a joint affair with the new of ficers of the American Legion post and will be held July 27 at the post home. All members of the auxiliary and Legion are invited to attend. The in stallation will be held at 4 p.m. and there will be refreshments and dancing after the in stallation. Since there were no June Birthdays, "Happy An niversary" was sung to Midge Scharf (23) and Mary Freund (52). Betty Lou Smith and Gertrude Murphy were winners of the special prizes. Pearl Cooper was present to receive the attendance award. It was announced that the McHenry county installation will be held at the McHenry post home Aug. 10, with Lou Rossberg of McHenry to be installed as county commander and Ioleen Biangardi of Fox River Grove to be the new county president. All members are urged to attend. Mrs. Homo announced that the McHenry unit will host the fall convention of the 11th district Oct. 4. WONDER LAKE The regular meeting of the Wonder Lake American Legion auxiliary was held Thursday evening at the post home with eight officers present. President Ann Eberle presided over the meeting. Reports were given by Poppy Chairman Lois Haak. Past President's Parley Chairman Jean Lucarz reported the next meeting will be held in Woodstock in October. The 11th district report was given by Lois Haak. County council installation will be Aug. 10 at McHenry Post home. Members were reminded of Flag day service to be held at the McHenry county cour thouse at 2 p.m. and to furnish cookies.
