The ski club has a group of highly skilled gals and guys who provide an afternoon of exciting entertainment, including kite flying, pyramids, jumping, barefooting, piggyback, clowns, etc., and it 's all free! An addition to this year's program will be the United States Coast Guard from Glenview Naval Base who will be performing air- water rescues, with helicopters rescuing persons out of boats. Most folks will tell you that Wonder Lake's annual ski show is one of the best "happenings" of the year in our area. Come and see for yourself. Thomas Sweeney Participates In ' French Program £ 0 Twenty-three Grand Valley State college students are currently participating in summer school programs in Tours, France and Vienna, Austria. Among them is Thomas Sweeney of McHenry. The European programs are part of the annual offering of the International Studies In stitute at Grand Valley. Students who departed for Europe in late June, are in volved in programs which include six weeks of course work, as well as two weeks of travel time for participants. Most instruction is by Grand Valley faculty and, with the exception of language courses, is in English. Summer school participants will return to the United States on charter flight Aug. 26. The French program at Tours has nineteen Grand Valley students this summer, including Sweeney. Parkland Teacher At Science Study Institute At NIU Eugene Vitale, a teacher at Parkland Junior high school, recently participated in the I n t e r m e d i a t e S c i e n c e Curriculum Study institute at Northern Illinois university. The workshop, funded by the National Science foundation, attracted nearly fifty seventh, eighth and ninth grade science teachers from Illinois and Indiana. Institute director, Dr. Allen D Weaver, says the program introduced the teachers to a new way of teaching science. In the new process, a student learns about science . nearly totally through experiments, according to the NIU physics professor.
