Those who saw the display of old typewriters expressed interest. On exhibit was a Lambert, 1902, where the keys were mounted on a revolving disc; a Royal, 1908; an Underwood, 1905; an Emerson, lather of the Woodstock typewriter, dated back to 1902; and of course an Oliver, 1915. A story of the Oliver accompanied by blown up black and white photographs of various departments in the manufacturing process was the work of Chester Nelson, treasurer of the society. Getting the cabin ready for Fair week and manning it with volunteers is an undertaking. Mrs. Nancy Fike swept out the cabin, transported the items. Henry Marlowe and his wife, Helen, set the various farm implements around the cabin. Those on duty in the cabin were Lota and Alice Calrk and Margaret Stone of Woodstock; Pamona Martin and Elsa Meehand of Cary; Shuji Kimura and Sandy Walkup of Crystal Lake; Bob Hansen of Marengo and Henry "Marlowe of Huntley. Work at the museum progresses slowly. Husky volunteers are needed to get cases moved into final placing, moving heavy farm equipment about in order to make room for the fire engine that was given several years ago and has been in a member's barn. The Society was given a mahogany staircase by Ralph Deneen of Marengo that was in a pre-Civil War house that he was about to demolish. Walter Geschke, Woodstock, with his father's truck, transported the stair treads and some other interior trim over to the Museum . The staircase isiteing set up in a corner of the main exhibit hall. Volunteers to help with shifting artifacts should call the museum, 923-2267 or 923-2388. Exterior painting is being done this week and made-to- order shutters are being in stalled. In order to get around air conditioning units the shutters had to be made. The caves are being painted and repaired. It should take another week or so and all exterior work should be completed.
