Summer season sports are fast coming to an end so school activities will play a big part in the sports section. Must say we had very fine cooperation from those who turned in reports throughout the summer season. Some did an exceptional job of reporting and required a minimum of editing. That help is appreciated. F<?r those who insist , on writing on both sides of a sheet and those who crowd too much on one sheet, we say PLEASE! If you need a pad of copy paper, let us know. Twould be a lost day without a friendly wave from Florence Dean in the window next door. Sometimes that Dean fellow with the broom across the street would let out a blast. Not always sure what he was saying and maybe that 's just as well. It won't be the same without A1 Purvey. Guess the Lord needed a top greenskeeper up there and called him home this week. We knew A1 since the first day he came to McHenry, working for him during a school vacation when McHenry Country Club was in i ts infancy. From the day he set foot on the course, it transformed from a rough start to one of the finest golf courses to be found anywhere. A1 and his wife. Vera, made many friends in this area. To know them was to like them. For some of us. it was to love them. You don't replace the likes o'Al Purvey in a community like McHenry. You just remember them in your thoughts and in your prayers. Swartzloff and Johnson have been attending practice the last several days, and from reports have a good scouting system worked out. Seaton and Peterson from East Campus have been bogged down with work the past several days, and have missed the daily workouts.
