"In other years, not everyone who applied for the 'circuit breaker' received a rebate. This year, however, anyone who was 65 in 1974, with a total household income of under $10,000 will receive at least one check from the state of Illinois", said Mrs. Jones, "and some will receive tWo checks." The 'circuit breaker' itself is computed by the Department of Revenue. A comparison is, made between a percentage of total household income and one's property tax bill or one- fourth of one's rent. "In addition", Mrs. «Jones continued, "this year, for the first time, an additional grant will be issued to every eligible household that applies for the 'circuit breaker.' The amount of the rebate will be based on a percentage of total household income only. These grants will range between $50 to $100. For this reason, we strongly urge everyone to apply even if they have been denied the grant in previous years. "If you know of anyone who just turned 65 last year", suggested Mrs. Jones, "it would be helpful if you would mention the 'circuit breaker' to them. Word of mouth is often the best means of com munication. "The forms may be obtained by calling our office at 338-6075 or 455-2660. (Please call collect if we are out of your free calling range). Or by writing or coming to the Council office at 201 N. Throop street, in Woodstock, the old S&H Green Stamp building. We would also be happy to assist anyone who is having difficulty in filling out the form." Answers: Out of 277, 35 percent voted "Yes" and 65 percent voted "No". Birch Comment: We should not be trading with any com munist countries.
