Lucas, county executive director, McHenry county ASCS office. Under a recent ASCS rule change, farmers filing loss claims who elect to salvage disaster-affected corn or sorghum for grazing, silage, green chop, fodder or other livestock feed use other than grain, will receive both a grain and a tonnage appraisal unless the crop is to be harvested as silage and tonnage production can be determined by measurement. Lucas also noted that "in case of where a farm is determined ineligible for payment because tonnage production exceeds the eligibility level, the total of potential grain production based on the grain appraisal will also be used to determine eligibility. Then, if total production-based on the grain appraisal-is less than the eligibility level, the farm will be deemed eligible for payment. Field corn and grain sorghum harvested for other than grain use are included under the disaster payment provisions of the feed grain program. Legislation further- provides that in determining a loss under the disaster program, affected producers shall be charged for total actual production. Therefore, production of these crops used for nongraiiu livestock feed must be determined on a tonnage basis and converted to a grain equivalent. McHenry Man Places Classes In Hereford Show An excellent quality set of Hereford cattle set the stage for the recent 1975 Missouri State Fair Hereford show, Sedalia. Kenny Eppers, McHenry, placed the classes. The grand champion bull selected by Eppers was a powerful two-year-old, MC Line Mark 337. Wayward Wind Farm, Forest City, Mo., and Mill Creek Herefords, Alma, Ks., own the champion. He was also named senior champion. Midwest Cattle, Winchester, Ks., exhibited the bull.
