Ringwood News 653-9008 653-9262 728-0295 Robert Thompson Returns From Trip To Japan Robert Thompson of Greenwood recently returned from a trip to Japan where he spent six weeks with other 4- H'ers from Illinois. During this time they were acquainting the Japanese people with the function and purpose of the 4-H program here in the United States. Last week, Bob was part of a delegation of those 4- . H ers who visited Governor Walker in the capitol building in Springfield. Before leaving Japan, the mayor of the town where Bob's host family lived, gave him a painting to present to Governor Walker. Next year it is planned to have an equal number of Japanese youngsters come to the United States for a visit. On the trip to Springfield, Bob was accompanied by his mother, Charlotte Thompson, and grandmother, Mrs. John Hogan. v RUMMAGE SALE Just a reminder that the dates for the fall rummage sale at the Ringwood United Methodist church will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 17 and 18. HOME ON LEAVE AGAN Resae Ackerman, the daughter of Bev and Chuck Ackerman. arrived home on leave from the USN on Sept. 8. Resae will be home until Sept. 30 visiting with her family and friends. Charles Robinette (Resae's boyfriend) of Pen- sacola, Fla , arrived early Sunday morning. Charles is a weather forecaster for the Navy but being raised in Florida he neglected to check out the weather for the nor­ thern states before leaving Florida on his motorcycle, so he really got quite cold before arriving in Ringwood. A eookout was held in the Ackerman back yard in honor of Resae last Wednesday evening. Those helping to eat the barbecued chicken and dove were Wanda and Wes Bruce and family, Ma and Pa Bruce, Roger and Bonnie Petska and family, Ken and Judy Beck and family, and Phyllis and Len Ackerman and family. A good time was had by all and I'm sure Resae enjoyed being with her parents, grandparents and relatives. WELCOME DAUGHTER Our congratulations to Harry and Georgia Hogan on the birth of their daughter Monday morning. Sept 15. She will answer to the name of Carrie Ann. Little brother, Jason, is "waiting to greet her at home. The maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Blake, were especially happy since this is their first grand­ daughter. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Hogan. ABOUTTOWN Last Sunday, Mrs. Nellie Hepburn and Art Jensen at­ tended the marriage of Mrs. Hepburn's niece, Pam Madison, to Eric Schadle of Kenosha. It was an outdoor wedding in Lincoln Park and the beautiful flowers growing in the park made a lovely setting lor the ceremony. Barbara Brennan and children. Wayne and Wendy, were dinner guests at the Charles Brennans Sunday. Later in the day, Kenny Brennan dropped by for a visit with the folks. Mrs. Hepburn called on Ann Caddock in the Woodstock Nursing Home. Last Friday, she visited Mrs. Dodd in Crystal Lake. ABOUT TOWN Cake and coffee were the order of the day for Virginia Bruce last Friday. Virginia s special day is Sept. 12, so her cousin Isabelle Shook and Jesse Carlson of Woodstock and Aunt Zella Carlson and son, Dean, arrived on Friday afternoon to have cake and coffee to help Virginia celebrate, (how many, Virginia?) Phyllis Z»y and family had a visitor on Monday evening of this week. Her daughter, Debbie, and family visited for the evening. They are living in the Waukegan area for awhile and will be seeing more of Phyllis, Dick and David in the months to come. Uncle G.W. and Aunt Mary Thomas of Corydon. Iowa, were visitors in the Walt Low home for the weekend. Then on Sunday they all attended the twenty-fifth wedding an­ niversary celebration of Marge and Chuck Femstrom (Doris' sister) in McHenry. Better than eighty relatives enjoyed a family picnic at noon and then lots of friends stopped in to wish the couple another 25 years. Monday morning brought Uncle Mardis and AuntXillian Thomas of Hinsdale and Mabel Thomas of McHenry to Lowsville to have coffee with Doris and Aunt Mary and Uncle G.W.
