He is the latest of four McHenry teachers so honored. Previously, two Hilltop school teachers and one from Edgebrook were selected as Outstanding Elementary Teachers for 1975. They are Florence Foran and Karl Stueben of Hilltop and Catherine Kohrt of Edgcbrook. All were selected on the basis of professional, personal and academic achievements. The annual awards program honors distinguished men and women in the field of elementary education. Each year, the complete biography and records of achievements of each outstanding teacher are presented in the awards V o l u m e , O u t s t a n d i n g Elementary Teachers of America and Outstanding Secondary Teachers of America. 4-H NEWS 4-11 FEDERATION The Sept. 15 McHenry County 4-H Federation meeting was called to order by the new Federation President, Jean Slater, reported Joy Vyduna, reporter for the Federation. The main attraction for next month is National 4-H club week, Oct. 5-11. A major program is being worked out by a committee to proclaim National 4-H club week in major cities in McHenry county. Jean Slater and Ed Vogts. The theme for this year's 4-H program is "Spirit of Tomorrow." This slogan and a 4-H story may also be seen on placements in various restaurants of McHenry county. Rick Madson and John Kearns were elected as new 4-H representatives for McHenry Youth cougpil and Fair board. Volunteers for a Recreation committee and Bicentennial committee were made known and the Huntley 4-H Softball team was congratulated for placing third in state com­ petition. Many complimentary remarks were made about the 1975 McHenry County Fair, and several ideas for next year's fair discussed. The 4-H-ers in attendance stated they were very happy with the gravel put down around the wash racks and the new addition to the grandstand. Next year they hope sowie arrangements can b e m a d e t o s e l l t h e m i l k produced by the dairy animals that are kept at the fair. Also discussed was the need for more room for the beef exhibits. The meeting concluded with a slide presentation about 4-H events during last year with accents on McHenry County Fair and the Illinois State Fair. The slides were of pictures taken by Extension adviser, Dave Plocher, and last year's reporter, Kim Kantlehner. The Dunham B Sharps 4-H club served excellent refreshments after the program. Girl Scout News TROOP 320 Junior Girl Scout Troop 320, Lakeland Park, will hold its registration and first meeting Thursday, Sept. 25. at 6:30 p.m. at the Lakeland Park com­ munity house. All scouts in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades from the Lakeland Park area should register at this time. There are a few openings for girls who have not been in scouting before. A registration fee will be collected and each girl should he accompanied by one parent to sign consent forms Leaders will be Barbara Williams. \Judv Widhalm and Sue Meineke.
