All proceeds from this event will benefit Elks charity projects in the Woodstock and the McHenry county area. Ann, a former resident of McHenry, will be remembered for her television shows, the stage shows at Shady Lane theater in Marengo, and the many benefit performances for charity in McHenry county. Charity Night at the Elks lodge in Woodstock starts with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m. A turkey dinner with all the trimmings will follow. Woodstock Elks Lodge 1043, throughout the sixty-nine years of its existence, has given a great deal of money to charity and the organizers are hoping for an even greater turnout of generous spenders this year, according to Exalted Ruler George B. Corson. "Tickets for this year's Charity night are available by calling the club at 338-0090 and leaving word for Gus Sahs to contact you," Exalted Ruler Corson added. Ann Varese Ralston will give two performances on Charity night. The first will be after dinner and the second after the auction. Chairman Gus Sahs and his committee advised that tickets are going fast. This night is open to the public. KnowJ? - I '™* JOYOUS ANGLER...Win ter may be near as cool weather invades most of the country, but things appar ently are quite pleasant in Florida where pretty Joy Cobb tosses a line into the surf at Daytona Beach. What is frost? Can it oc cur when the temperature is above thirty-two degrees? Frost is nothing but fro zen dew and, naturally, dew will not freeze until the freezing point is reached at thirty-two degrees. So it has to be freezing to pro duce frost. What confuses most peo ple on this point is the fact that the temperature has to touch thirty-two degrees only briefly to freeze the minute water particles on blades of grass, etc. The frost might last an hour or t w o - a n d b e v i s i b l e i n shady areas long after the t e m p e r a t u r e r e a d i n g i s above freezing --but you can be sure it dropped to at least thirty-two when you see frost. 4-DAY SALE Wed. thru Sat.
