They went down to a 14 to 6 defeat at the hands of the champions the Zion ZeeBees. They gave it all they had, but just could not come up with the big play at the right moment. The opportunity was there, but the Warriors couldn't quite get the job done. They never quit, and should be congratulated on the fine season. It was better than most people expected. The Warrior defense for a change had an opportunity to see quite a bit of the game, as the offense had possession most of the time. Thp ZeeBees had two long drives that resulted in touchdowns, and for the rest of the afternoon held off numerous Warrior attacks. It was a great football season, and the press box crew again has to thank S.I.H. and his wonderful wife for the goodies every Friday night. Collins and Ludwig still can't forget those two pails of popcorn that found their way to the coop at the last home game. The McHenry Girls Field Hockey team will be playing at Deerfield this afternoon. The Warrior fans are wishing them the best of luck in their first attempt at a state title. I would like to welcome a new member of the coaching fraternity. Cis Morner the coach of the field hockey team has joined that elite group of coaches. In the closing moments of the Woodstock game with the gals leading 2 to 1, a nervous Coach Morner paced the sidelines, and like all true coaches was watching the clock. Only when you began to pace the sidelines, keeping an eye on the clock do you qualify to be a member of this group. I only hope that she has more than one pair of shoes, if not Cis, order a couple of pair immediately. A tip of the hat to an old friend and former coach at McHenry. Mike Postelwait in his second year as sophomore coach at Rochelle had a 9 and 0 record. His two year record at Rochelle is 17 wins and 1 loss. Rochelle's varsity is also 9 and 0 and will meet Lisle in the Class 3-A playoffs Wednesday night. Congratulations are also in order to Coach Tom Parker and his Marian Central Hurricanes. They finished the season with a 5 and 4 record, and except for a early season slump, the "Canes" played good football. What a turnaround from last years 0 and 9 record. The crystal ball was unbreakable again last week and I finished the season with 36 out of 45 for an 800 average. I'll give - it one try in the first round games of the playoffs in the Class 4-A division. Zion over Grant (Being a loyal North Suburban fan, and also the caliber of competition is a little tougher in the North Suburban).Ridgewood over Naperville. Hillcrest over Lake Park. Joliet Catholic over Bradley. (Joliet will win the title, could be the best team in the state in any class). Danville over LaSalle Peru (Don Seaton won't like this pick). Peoria Manual over Sterling. Carbondale over Mascoutah, and Lincoln over Springfield Griffin (Gary Gray won't like this pick either). Next week I'll try again and will also have some early season reports on the basketball and wrestling squads at McHenry High. Police Tickets David A. Williamson, 3110 W.
