r PAGE 7 - PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, l»75 On The Sidelines by Dick Rabbit* There is talk around the state that the I.H.S.A. will change its format for the football playoffs next season. The talk going around is that the state will allow teams to starttheir seasons earlier.tf this is done it can eliminate the opening round game that is played on Wednesday. Pushing the first game of the playoffs back to Saturday will be a benefit to the players. I'm sure the ZeeBees of Zion will attest to it. Scott Roe, Zion's all around player, was injured in the Grant game on Wednesday, and did not play in their loss to Naperville last Saturday. Two days healing time was not enough for Scott, but am sure that given a week to recover^ he would have been ready to play. Even the pros have a tough time coming back for a \ game Sunday, after they have played a Monday night game the week before. Ronnie Miller former Warrior quarterback closed out his final home game for the Elmtf urst Blue Jays in a blaze of glory. The senior signal caller passed for 208 yards and rushed for another 35 yards. He also passed for all 4 touchdowns in the Blue Jays big upset over highly regarded Wheaton College 28 to 20. Ron will close out his career as the Blue Jays will travel to Bloomington to play Illinois Weslyen on Saturday. Here is hoping that Ron has another fine day. The McHenry High girls field hockey team lost a close disputed match to Deerfield last Friday afternoon by the score of 2 to 1. Seems that the officiating slightly favored the Deerfield crew. It was a disappointing loss for the girls, and it eliminated them from further play in the state playoffs. Anyway girls it was a nice season, and let's wait till next year. Early reports have our Warriors ranked in the top twenty five in the Chicago area. Bloom is the pre-season favorite to win the state title. The Warriors first opponent West Aurora is ranked 12th in the Chicago area. A big win for the Warriors would move them up in the standings. In my first round picks in Class 4-A I have five out of eight, which isn't too good. Still I saw only one of the teams play the ZeeBees who looked good in knocking off Grant. Now I'll try for all the semi-finals to be played tomorrow.' CLASS 5-A Loyola over Deerfield and Willow brook over Rockford Boylan. CLASS 4-A Joliet Catholic over Naperville and LaSalle Peru over Springfield Griffin. CLASS 3A „ Geneseo over Geneva and East St. Louis Lincoln over Metamora. CLASS 2-A Stockton over Eureka and St. Theresa of Decatur over Danville Schlaraan CLASS 1A Princeville over Mackinaw and Concord Triopa over Carterville.
