(STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) All-County Football Squad Full Of Talent Jt' By Dick Rabbitt Once again the McHenry Plfcindealer has taken the initiative in promoting a McHenry County All Star Team. It is the hope of many coaches in the county that a better method of selecting the players can be obtained. Cindy Tonyan led in rebounds for the 7th grade and Linda Aim played an outstanding defensive game as well as gaining 13 of our 34 points. The whole team worked very hard but Countryside proved to be the better team this time and beat Montini 44 - 34. Carol Hermann played an exceptionally good game for the 8th grade. She had twice as many rebounds as anyone else and still managed to score 7 points for Montini. Priscilla Kasprzyk led the 8th grade scoring with 9 points. Although everyone played hard Montini was defeated 62 - 25. Our next game will be Monday November 24 at 3:45 against St. Mary's in the Montini gym. The matches will begin at 6:45 p.m. (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) EARL WALSH So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR--I 'Twas only a week ago that Annabel Aicher and her brother Leo gave us help in locating the oldest buildings in McHenry. This week Annabel has gone to her eternal reward after living a long life. Full of spirit with a love for music, she was the youngest Old Timer in McHenry. There will be more song and music in heaven. The Boston Red Sox have acquired Fergie Jenkins to shore up their pitching staff for their race for the pennant next year. Known for his gopher ball as well as his 20 : game seasons, Fergie may do real well in Boston. That park is supposed to be right for right handers. While trades go on, Bill Veeck has to cool his heels and wait for the American League owners to OK his purchase of the White Sox. Morrie Crouch and Paul Overton never heard of Lawrence Welk. But, "Old Timer" Tommy Sutton knows about those young dancers and beautiful girls. One thing we like about the Welk show is that his singers aren't hog callers. Never in history has our country had so many in vestigating committees. No unemployment in their ranks. 439; Cathie Freund 442; Lauretta Homo 423; Edi Nimsgern 457; Carol Michels 414; Petie Heck 412; Fran Weyland 420; Barb Hansen 383; Joan Buss 425; Bette O'Brien 482; Marie Diedrich 372; JoAnne Plucinski 383; Shirley Lossmann 383; Clarice Buenzli 465; Dot Beckenbaugh 412; Eleanore Glaviano 464, Barb Leight 462; Roberta Frazer 449; May Cook 460; Dee Overton 446. JOHNSBURG I LARRY 2 BARBERS CLARENCE Grapplers Opener At Home Tonight Against Elgin Larkin Next thing we know they will have committees to investigate the investigators. It goes back to the old question of who's taking care of the lightho use watchman's daughter while the lighthouse watchman is busy taking care? Not too much sports news coming in these days. Between seasons you know. If you do have some copy to send in, remember the early deadlines for Thanksgiving week. Guess it pays to toot your own horn. Joe Morgan, second baseman for the championship Cincinnati Reds, must be a timid, modest soul. He told the world he should be named most valuable in the National League. The sports writers believed him and named him. Former Warrior basketball star Martin Zeller, all 6'4" -195 pounds of him -- will be used as a center-forward on this year's New Mexico Military Institute team. Another former Warrior basketball star, Kenne Ludwig, outside shooter with quick hands, will be in the back court once he puts his Bronco golf activities aside for the winter months. We'll be watching the progress of these former MCHS stars with interest. With all the promotion for the Christmas holiday business, that day called Thanksgiving seems to be forgotten. Some think it is just for the birds. By Dick Rabbitt Coach Marty Sobczak's McHenry High wrestlers will, open their season tonight at home against Elgin Larkin. The freshmen will get un derway at 6:45 p.m. with the sophs and varsity to follow. Coach Sobczak is hoping to avenge last year's loss to the Elgin school. The local squad was defeated 35 to 25 in last years match in Elgin. At this time the lineup is uncertain, but with wrestle offs in the Annual Orange and Black Nite held Wednesday, Coach Marty will have a better idea of his starting lineup. Let's all try and get out to West Campus Upper Gym on Friday nite for the Opener. Hope to see all of you wrestling fans at the match. It will also be Alumni Nite at West Campus Gym. A special section is being set aside for the Alumni wrestlers which will be located near the announcers table.
