Choral Club In Bicentennial Program Theme When the McHenry Choral club starts rehearsals for its new season Monday, Jan. 12, members will learn of plans for a Bicentennial program to be presented early in May. Practices are held each Monday night at 8 p.m. in East ampus music room. Theme of the program will be ~ indows Into The Past", featuring highlights in the* country's history in song and tableau effect. The year 1976 program will recognize the 200th year of the country, the 140th year of # the city of McHenry and the thirty-fifth anniversary of the choral club. Conduct Charge Filed Against McHenry Men Two McHenry men were arrested for disorderly conduct following a fight at the home of Leighann Sorensen of 118 Rand road, McHenry, New Year's eve. John Sorensen of McHenry, her estranged husband, and Danny Mercado of 5305 Or- chardway drive, McHenry, were found at the home of Ms. Sorensen when she returned home early Thursday morning. She summoned deputies and when they arrived, officers found the two men had left saying they would not return. However, after two more calls to the residence during that same morning, both men were arrested and bond was set at $25 each. Youth Arrested For. Possession Of Cannabis While on routine patrol last Tuesday evening, sheriff's deputies spotted an auto parked in a field without lights near Miller road west of Wilmot road, north of Johnsburg. When officers investgated, the smell of burned cannabis was detected. Marie Incornatia club. Survivors include his wife, Mary, and nine children, two presently in the McHenry area, Anthony and Mrs. Charles (Rosemarie) PintoCzi, twenty - seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation was Thursday at the Barr funeral home, Chicago, with a funeral Mass set Saturday at 10 o'clock at St.' Ita church. Interment was in Mount Carmel cemetery . Schedule County Band Festival The diverse background and abilities of McHenry county's conductor-in-residence, Dr. Elmer Thomas, will be displayed in his next round of public appearances scheduled for Jan. 9, 10 and 11. Drawing from his years of experience as a club per­ former, both as a vocalist and trombonist, and also from his academic training, Dr. Thomas will be the guest conductor at a county band festival scheduled Sundav. Jan. 11, at*3 p.m. in the Woodstock high school auditorium. Members of the concert and stage bands,were selected from the towns of Huntley, Marengo, Woodstock, Cary, Fox River Grove, McHenry, Richmond, Alden, Hebron, and Marian Central high schools. Selections by Handel, Mahler, and Hoist emphasize the enduring qualities of Two-Car Crash Brings Injuries To tseeal Man A two-car collision on Route 31, about one-half mile north of Route 176 near Crystal Lake, last Monday afternoon resulted in a ticket for improper overtaking on the left being issued to Peter A. Stevenson of 498 Lincoln, Elgin. According to county police, Stevenson was south-bound on the highway attempting to pass two vehicles in front of him. He passed the first and as he was about to ovf take the second car, it turn* d left and hit his auto. John P. Hess of 2223 Manor lane, McHenry, told deputies his turn signal was in operation prior to the collision and a witness verified his statement. Hess was turning into the Commonwealth Edison parking lot when impact took place. Brian F. Sheppard of 115 Hill, Elgin, a passenger in the Stenson auto and Michael C. Oberhuber of 2223 Manor lane, McHenry, a passenger in the Hess auto, were both slightly injured. They were taken to McHenry hospital for checkups. A ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident was issued to Michael Fisher of 610 N. Recent ex­ perimental pieces by Nehybel, Persichetti, Giannini, and Heisinger will round out the program. „ Today's high school stage bands are successors to the dance bands and "Big Bands" of the 1930's and 1940's. The McHenry county honors stage band will have about twenty players with the usual brass, sax, and rhythm sections. Selections to be played on the Jan. 11 program include "A Little Minor Booze", "Straight Ahead", "Make a Joyful Noise", and "Archie's Back". Each number will feature solos from the various sections of the band. Moving from the night club to the opera stage, Dr. Thomas will lead area opera workshop members in an evening opera selections. Saturday, Jan. 10 is the date chosen for this program, beginning at 8 p.m. in Crystal Lake's Central® school auditorium. Among the evening's featured selections are represented "The Magic flute", "Amahl and the Night Visitors", ^Carmen", and "Porgy and Bess". A McHenry resident participating in the Opera Workshop is Debbie Walters. Tickets for both the opera program and the honors band program will be available at the door. Grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Illinois Arts council have established partial funding for the conductor-in-residence program.
