The "Fighting Warriors" are ready to atone for their loss to the Warhawks last Friday night. They whipped a good Kaneland team on Saturday night and the spirit this week in practice has been good. With the help of a good and spirited home crowd tomorrow the Warriors will be ready to take on the "Cats". Let's pack the gym tomorrow and root the Warriors on to win number 17. "EARL WALSH So I Hear & SPORTS EDITOR. St. Patrick's Day may seem far away, but plans are in the making. Mike Wieser, who treatened to wear orange or red on the big day, has had a change of heart. He will wear a green suit. He also has a little "starter" planned for us. Think Mike changed his mind when he thought about dodging Irish bricks if he wore orange. (Next thing you know he will change over to the Sox). NEW PERIL DISCOVERED - The Saginaw News (Michigan) ran the following article: T h e E n v i r o n m e n t a l Protection Agency has discovered the newest pollutant to be, of all things, cow burps. The EPA ranks burping cows as one of the biggest sources of air pollution in the United States. Their burps fill the atmosphere with 50 million tons of hydrocarbons every year. The Michigan Farm Bureau reports that farmers wouldn't be surprised to be issued another "emergency" stan dard requiring antiacid tablets for their burping cows -- perhaps followed by one or more orders prohibiting their use of such a tablet, based on its possible contamination of milk. They have emission control devices for automobiles. S o - l Make your own wisecrack. There are many nice young people left in this so-called troubled world. Recently a young man saw our problem in trying to carry a large package from the library. He offered to carry it for us. Told him our car was at the end of the block. No problem. He gave us a smile. We won't mention his name because young people sometimes prefer not to be mentioned in such cases. However, if we were looking for a courteous young man to hire, there would be our man. Tom Murphy of beautiful downton Volo is happy about Ken Silvestri being hired as a White Sox coach. Tom and Ken were young catchers in a Chicago league a few years ago when Tom had a chance to go to a Sox minor league team. Tom's salary at the time greatly exceeded the minor league pittance so he recom mended his friend Ken for the job. The rest is history. Tom says Carlos May has a no-hustle clause in his contract. The Tom Hickeys are en thusiastic about the Bill Veeck team. Another family that has been Sox fans since they reached the age of reason. Remember--the Warrior basketball team will meet the strong Libertyville five here Saturday afternoon. Why in the afternoon? Radio station WKRS will be here for a live broadcast. John Busscher, who reports golf news and takes time to taunt us about the White Sox and Irish, is at it again. Mona tells us that John and a group of old schoolmates gathered at Varese's where she served them and listened to a lot of guff about the White Sox. John finally broke down and picked the Sox for third place. What's so bad about third in '76 and first in '77? WARRIORS VS. LIBERTYVILLE SAT. P.M.
