SB On Ihe Sidelines hy men Kafetm The Warriors are under the gun again tonight at Zion. It is a must game for them in the conference race. The largest crowd in years was on hand last Saturday, but the Warriors just couldn't get untracked for the home folks. The coacning staff has vowed that they will come back and be tough the rest of the season. An okl rival, the Woodstock Blue Streaks, will be here tomorrow night Let's not let the team down because of several bad games. They have a very good shot at going Jo the Supersectional in DeKalb in March. Let us help them along the way. For you wrestling fans the conference tourney at Dundee tonight and tomorrow. Don't forget you adults can act like a kid again and ride the old school bus. If you can put up with the singing and yelling I urge you to go this way. As the old saying, What a way to go. We not only have a crazy mixeup bus driver, but a poet in our midst. I received this peom the other day and thought I would pass it along. Sir Richard of Rabbitt -famed writer of sorts I feel like the sailor who has lost all his ports Directions I gave, I freely admit Put many McHenryites in a blue twit I assumed in error, and it now scams Hie new school was not to be host to our fans They made us drive to the center of town Where I sat in thestands with a silly frown But as I look bade in retrospect One thing I must say The next time we {day Lake Forest Everyone will know the way. * • . • , George also gave me a shortcut to Champaign. Once you get out of McHenry take the Eockford trail on to DeKalb. Once out of there you are all set. I know that sounds good to all Warrior fans. . Addison Trail and Willowbrook high school officials have taken some steps to quell unruly conduct by high school athletes. Any player violating good conduct will be immediately suspended from the team, and the action will be followed by review to determine if and when the suspension should be lifted. Ihe schools involved are in the DesPlaines Valley conference and have 79 coaches involved in 18 sports. Look for other schools to follow suit. I think the above should include any student and not just the participant. .>•- Roger Ludwig former Warrior is a regular on the t College team. Last week they pulled two upsets, ting Carthage who was undefeated at the time, and it Saturday defeated Augustana College. The loss by rAugustana was the first home loss in five years in their fieldhouse. In the Augie game Roger was 3 for 3 from field and 6 of 6 frpm the free throw line. I understand two former Warriors Bob Eppel and George Hansen both attending Augustana, while pulling for the home school yelled out words of encouragement to Rog. The McHenry freshmen have shown improvement since Christmas. Two weeks ago they gave North Chicago 13 and 2 a real scare before going down to defeat. Saturday morning they defeated the Libertyville frosh 13 and 5. Libertyville had won the Waukegan Freshmen tourney in which the Warriors brought home the third place trophy. > *»* With the Blue Streaks coming to town tomorrow night, another game of the past is being presented, it was a typical Warrior-Streak game with the Warriors coming out on top way back in 1953. Fir^t match tonight is at 6:30 P.M. The tourney continues tomorrow at 1:00 P.M. with the semi-finals and wrestle backs. Then on Saturday night at 7:00 P.M. the championships will get under way. - The Warriors have been having their troubles lately with the flu and injuries, but Coach Marty is hoping that the boys will be in shape Friday night. From the looks of the teams it could be a dog fight right down to the finish. Coach Sobczak had said, "It should be Libertyville, North Chicago, and Barrington". However, he added, "that to win, one of these teams will have to get at least four men through to the finals". Waiting in the wings are two darkhorses Dundee and Crown read to take an ad vantage should any of the top three fall along the way. The Warriors chances for a team championship appear rather slim. However, they POSSE MEETING A meeting of the McHenry bounty Sheriff's posse will be £held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m V Vin the courthouse, Rt. 47, '.Woodstock. Prospective 4members are cordially invited to join at this time, could have a lot to say about the championship. Knocking off some of the top seeded men, and picking up points here and there could very well deter mine the champion on Saturday night. Maybe they are not strong enough to win the championship, but it sure would be nice to get some in dividual awards. The fan bus will leave from East Campus. I am told that if adults want to pay the fifty cents they can save gas, trouble parking, and live like a kid again by riding the bus. Should be a lot of fun.
