Using The Principles Of Learning - To improve your schoolwork, you can apply the following principles of lear ning: 1. Be interested and motivated in your subjects of study; have definite goals. 2. Be active, mentally or physically, in what you are studying or doing. 3. Apply the principle of frequency. Remember the more often you practice a resonse, the more likely you are to learn about it and remember it. 4. In studying an assignment, try to see the whole before studying the parts. 5. Overlearn important material. ' Scientific ex periments have shown that a person forgets quickly what he has learned. To overcome this, you must study the material beyond the point where you can just barely remember it. When you think that you know something, lay the material aside and in a short while try to say or write it again. If you have trouble remembering it, study it again and then check to see if you positively know it. The process should be repeated until you are absolutely sure of what you know. r M M Nil Births | McHENRY HOSPITAL Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cheatham, 3719 W. This is how Brett Jackson, who will be portraying Sky Masterson, feels about, the progress of the high school's upcoming musical, "Guys and Dolls". "I really believe that this year's production will be as successful as the school's previous musicals:" Tim Corn well, who is also one of the leads, Nathan Detroit, is excited about his part. "It's like nothing I've ever done before", says Tim. "I'm very enthused. Even though we have a good reputation to live up to, I think it will be a great show. I hope the audience really enjoys this show." Tim's thoughts are echoed by Selina Mays, playing Adelaide, who says, "It's coming along very well. I wouldn't be sur prised if "Guys and Dolls" turned out as big or bigger than the productions before it. Although it's more than I ex pected, I'm enjoying it im mensely". Mrs. Vandagriff, the show's director, tells what it is like putting together this musical fable of Broadway. " 'Guys and Dolls' has to be one of the most exciting musicals I've ever directed. McHenry has a real treat awaiting them. For the first time we have a costume mistress. Miss Peters and her assistant, Linda Vick, are the coordinators for the various costumes which the cast will be wearing, and they are doing a great job. We're very lucky to have them," Mrs. Vandagriff added. "Guys and Dolls" is scheduling performances April 1, 2, 3 and 4 at 8 p.m. in West campus auditorium.
