"That was our first effort at this major event, and we were successful in obtaining a much larger display area. "Farm couples from the six counties will be serving as host and hostess throughout the eight days, a chance to visit with city people and to ex­ change ideas. We have found this person-to-person exchange is informative and extends beyond the 'glad to see you' and 'you are doing a good job' level. Seeking to improve com­ munications with city people- and encouraged by success of similar ventures the past two- from six northeastern Illinois counties will participate in the Chicago Flower and Garden show at McCormick Place March 20-28. An estimated 200,000 attend this colorful, beautifully staged show, and Farm. Bureau members in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Lake and McHenry counties are making plans for a display presented by farmers in a personal contact with thousands of consumer friends of the farmer. DON PEASLEY PHOTO) Fine Dance Troupe To Give Area Presentation It is seldom that superb talent makes its way out of Chicago, through the suburbs, to entertain and stimulate McHenry county. But that rare occasion is soon to be realized. The McHenry County college Student Activity committee, in conjunction with the Illinois Arts council, is bringing the emotionally and intellectually exciting dance troupe, Mordine and Company, to perform and conduct a master class March 4 at 7 p.m., at the Lundahl Junior high school gym in Crystal Lake. Mordine and Company is being recognized as making an original statement in American dance. The company of six dancers use space with openness and clarity, moving with an ease and expansiveness that explores a maximum Elect Officers Of PWP Chapter Friday Night a musical instrument are forming an orchestra with the object of presenting a variety show next summer. Teens are planning ice skating and the adults will join them for a night of bowling. Installation of the new slate of officers and recognition of the old will be held at the monthly smorgasbord-dance at 7:30 p.m. The chapter is hosting a regional at the Chateau Louise the weekend of May 1. Many exciting events are in the making with the theme, "It's a New World!" To be eligible for PWP membership one must be single by reason of a death, divorce, separation, or unmarried, and have one or more living children. Custody is not a factor for membership. Malaysian Student In Appearance Before Club Ann Demke introduced Miss Sudha Paraman of Penang, Malaysia, to speak before forty-six members of the Friendship club of the First United Methodist church at its last meeting. "Sue" is an AFS student now attending school at McHenry West campus, and is making her home with the Warren Krebs family. She was found not only to be a charming young lady, but presented a most interesting and informative program of her homeland. She showed many beautiful slides and answered many questions from the audience. The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m., after a delicious dinner. President Morris Crouch thanked the ladies for the fine meal. Mrs. Gertrude Anderson was welcomed into the fellowship of the club. Esther Sims' meditations included "For Sale", "The Quitter", "Living Above The Circumstances", "Tis My God That Leadeth Me," and "He Maketh No Mistakes". Nurses Observe 75th Anniversary March 8 Members of the 16th district Illinois Nurses association will celebrate Illinois Nurses week and the seventy-fifth an­ niversary of the Illinois Nurses association at a dinner meeting Monday, March 8, at the Cabriolet restaurant, Liber­ ty vflle. Dinner will be at 6:45 p.m.,, the program at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Barbara Lyons, R.N., emergency services coor­ dinator at Victory Memorial hospital, will discuss "The Nurse's Role in the Paramedic Program." In this Bicentennial year, Mrs. Lyons will em­ phasize one of the new roles nutses will be competently filling in the future. Well qualified for this position, Mrs. Lyons has worked as an entergency room nurse, coronary care staff nurse, in- service education instructor, and before coming to Victory Memorial hospital was the mobile intensive care coor­ dinator at Northwest Com­ munity hospital. Szymczyk turned 80 Sunday, Feb. 29. Mrs. Szymc­ zyk, who lives alone at the Nippersink-Woods apartments in Genoa City, WI., resided on Chicago's West side (1022 N. Springfield) for more than fifty years after she came from Poland in 1915. Mrs. Szymczyk has two children - Lillian Rolfe of Burbank, CA., and Matt Simms. Spring Grove; two ;',r , hildren, and six great- gra nildren. Her husband, Paul Joseph, died in 1955. For a pumber of years she worked in the Michigan Avenue office of William Harridge, president of the American Baseball league. PWP members are needed to vote at the next general meeting of Parents Without Partners. Chapter 189 will meet for election of new officers March 5 at the American Legion hall on the corner of Woodstock and Oak streets in Crystal Lake. The meeting convenes at 8:45 p.m. sharp. Newcomers should come at 8 p.m. for welcome and in­ formative orientation. While the votes are being counted, the square dance class will exhibit* prowess in the great American hoedown.
