One of them is the ap pearance of pairs of our McHenry ducks as they emerge from a hard winter on the bleak icq.of the Fox river. Nice days fiiMl them staking out claims jus! about anywhere they choose. Another sign is kite-flying and bike-riding youngsters. Wholesome as the pastimes are, these are sometimes amoog the dangerous signs of the change in seasons. As we drove along slowly a few days ago, a little fellow was so intent on the progress of his kite that he backed out of a large empty lot into the street. We shuddered to think of what might happen if a speeding driver had been approaching. And every day we seem to be the "middle man", sandwiched between young bicyclists who dfcide to part and cover both sideb of the road when a car ,onto the scene. They are ;tely relaxed behind the King aparatus, yet one slip could put one of these cWWren beneath the wheels of few thousand pounds of In Candy's court were Becky Box, 6, first runnerup, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Box of 5218 Parkview, a first grade pupil in Valley View school.
