(OFC. 8) McHENRY Nelson - Barber Vows Exchanged A lovely Spring wedding took place at the First Baptist church of Richmond Saturday, April 24, when Cheryl L. Nelson and Rickey E. Barber ex­ changed . nuptial vows. The Rev. Dennis Shaw, assisted by the Rev. Glen Mensing, of­ ficiated at the 4 o'clock ceremony amidst organdy rose bouquets made by the groom's mother decorating the altar and pews. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. LaDell Nelson, 7303 Route 31, Richmond, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Barber, 6919 Route 173, Richmond. Special music presented at the ceremony included "April Love", "Sometimes" and "Wedding Prayer" by soloist, Myrna Mays. The bride wore a floor length gown of white sata-peau, enhanced with Venice lace and seed pearls over bridal mist taffeta. The bodice featured a high neck band over an illusion V-neckline and long sleeves. The skirt was A-line with back fullness. The headpiece was a profile cap with imported illusion lace edging the chapel length veil. The bride carried a cascade arrangement of white stephanotis, baby's breath, ivy and red roses. Mrs. Maureen Snyder of Richmond was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Denise, Gail and Karla Nelson, all of Rich­ mond and all sisters of the bride and Julie Barber, Rich- ; mond, sister of the groom. Carrie Pawlowski of Trevor, Wi., was flower girl. The maid of honor wore a pink crepe, floor length gown featuring a lace bodice with white lace overlay. The A-line skirt was deeply flounced and the sleeves were full with long cuffs overlayed with lace. The attendants were attired similarly to the maid of honor in rainbow colors of blue, yellow, green and apricot, with the flower girl in pink. The girls wore white picture hats with bands matching their dresses. They carried white lace, parasols adorned with car­ nations tinted to match their gowns. Rick Wirch of Richmond served as best man with Larry Stevens, Richmond, Donald Miller, Spring Grove, Jack Woods, Richmond, and Mike Cunningham, Richmond, ac­ ting as groomsmen. Bobby Pawlowski, Trevor, Wi., was ring bearer. Handling ushering duties were Ricky Nelson, Richmond, brother of the bride; Kenneth Aubert, Palatine, cousin of the groom; Roger Vicha, Rich­ mond; and Buster Amore, Solon Mills. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Nelson chose a floor length gown of turquoise chiffon, featuring a detachable butterfly cape with matching accessories. The groom's mother wore a floor length gown of aqua crepe with an accordion pleated chiffon cape over the sleeveless dress. She carried matching accessories. Following the ceremony, a dinner was held for 275 guests at the Hunter Country club. Upon their return from a two- week trip to Florida, the couple plan to make their home at 10013 Golf avenue, Richmond. The bride is a 1974 graduate of Richmond-Burton Com­ munity high school and in addition to attending McHenry County college part time,is employed as a cashier at a Richmond Pharmacy. Sister Clarice Wilfiams will be guest speaker at the third anniversary luncheon of Women Aglow in Christ April 29 at Martinetti's in Crystal Lake, beginning at 11 a.m. In 1967, Sister Clarice came to St. Joseph's school in Libertyville as principal after having served as principal and teacher in several Chicago schools. Discontent in this new situation, she sought and found a new and deeper relationship with the Lord. At this point, she realized her own inadequacy and surrendered herself to the sufficiency of Jesus Christ. The experience of this gentle, loving woman is an inspiration to all. All are welcome to come and hear it. Angela Amici of McHenry will uplift the audience with her beautiful voice. AND MRS. JACOB MARINICH WED 50 YEARS - Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Marinich of 404 W. Dowell road, McHenry, recently celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner at Hackney's in Lake Zurich. In attendance for this festive occasion were eighty friends, relatives and neighbors. The Marinichs have resided in the McHenry area for the past eighteen years. Church Circle Plans Ahead For Festival The Marcia Mary Ball circle of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist church of McHenry will meet at the church Tuesday, May 4, at 12:30 p.m. Each member will bring her own sandwich, but hostess Alvina McKaige, assisted by Esther Sims, will serve the beverage and dessert. This will be an important meeting, as many plans must be made regarding the Christmas bazaar booths for the annual Fall Festival. Plans also will be made for the annual circle picnic June 1, which will be held at the home of Dorothy Steinbiss. Bring any ideas or samples for the bazaar to the May meeting. Wi _ VFW Auxiliary Observes Thirtieth Anniversary The Fox River Ladies auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600 to McHenry has chosen Saturday, May 8, to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the auxiliary. A gala evening is planned beginning with cocktails at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at 7, followed by a very short program at which time recognition will be given to charter members who are attending. Past oresidents of the auxiliary will be introduced at this time. At 9 p.m. there will be dancing to a very good band. A cordial invitation is extended to auxiliary and past members. The members of the com­ mittee urge that reservations be made by May 2 with members of the committee. The persons to contact are Renee Jende, Mary Kuemmel, Barb Bryniarski, Gerry Kuck, Vi Abbink, Ila Hogan or Edna Olson. This dinner dance will also commemorate the closing of Bicentennial week for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and their Ladies auxiliary throughout the country. THEODORE SORENSEN AND SHERYL ANN FREUND PLAN JULY WEDDING - Mr. and Mrs. Eugene P. Freund of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter, Sheryi Ann. to Theodore (8kip) Sorensen of Fox Lake. Both are 1973 graduates of Grant Community high school. The couple plans to marry July 3 in St. Mary's Catholic church, McHenry. Showers Honor Bride-To-Be Lynne M. Monahan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Monahan, 4501 Ramble road, McHenry, has been feted at three showers recently. Lynne is the fiancee of John Cassell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cassell, 200 W. South drive, McHenry. A personal shower was held in the home of Mrs. Linda Anderson, Wonder Lake, hosted by Gail Braun and Catrin Tetzner, friends of Miss Monahan. A miscellaneous shower was given by the groom's sister, Marylou Gorman, and his sister-in-law, Judy Cassell, at Mrs. Cassell's home in Elgin, Cake and punch were served to the relatives from both families, who came from Chicago, Highland Park, Lombard, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, McHenry and surrounding areas. Roger W. Schneider, pastor of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, with Alyce Joyce Shay providing special music. The groom's best man was Dr. Karl Tomm, brother of the bridegroom, from Houston, Tx. Miss Conway was attended by Mrs. Bonnie Jeanne Krieger, sister of the groom, as matron of honor. A reception was held in the home for the happy newlyweds. MR. AND MRS. RICHARD S. FREUND WED 25 YEARS - Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Freund of 4209 W. Crystal Lake road, McHenry, will observe their silver wedding anniversary Saturday, May 1. A 3 o'clock Mass in their honor will be offered in St. Mary's Catholic church that day, followed by a reception at the Legion clubhouse, with open house after 8:30 p.m. Mr. Freund and his wife, the former Lwella R. fhmz, have four children, Gregory A., 22, Pamela M. and Patricia E., 20, and Daniel A., 13.
