Two errors, klk, and five hits provided the 2eeBeees with a big 5 run first inning. The Warriors, however, fought back to tie it up 5 apiece at the end of five innings. But again errors and a few scattered hits in between gave the Zion nine four more runs in the final two innings to go on and win 9 to 5. When the Cubs blew a 13 to 2 lead and then lost 18 to 16 in another game, Ed thought it best to get out of town. Down on the Island and away from it all, they found an old McHenryite, Fred Mueller and his wife Helen, have a room next to theirs. Fred told them he went to school with Adele Froehlich and the late "Huppy" Smith and graduated from MCHS in *30. 1930? That can't be our "Brenda". They must have had quite a visit. Fred told of knowing Flotilla 6-3 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a three (3) lesson boating class to the public, beginning at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 1976 at the USCG Boating Safety Detach ment Office, 17 S. Route 12, Fox Lake, Illinois. There will be three, two hours sessions, ending on Tuesday, May 18, 1976. The subject that will be covered are: Causes of ac cidents, Legal requirements, Safety precautions, and Boating equipment. Instructors for the course are Ray Bellon, Flotilla Com mander, Paul Minne, Vice Flotilla Commander, and John Winscom, Flotilla Public Education Officer. All are from Fox Lake Flotilla 6-3 of the USCG Auxiliary. Students who complete this class are invited to join the USCG Auxiliary. McHenry Trackmen Third In Fox Valley Relays And Win 25 Individuals By Dick Rabbitt Coach Wally Scott's McHenry High track team came home with the third place trophy in the Fox Valley Relays held in a downpour Saturday at Batavia. The Warriors not only won the third place trophy, but also brought home twenty-five individual trophies by the squad for their effort. As usual Bruce "Pete" Peterson's Kaneland squad won the meet. Pete will have his team here Friday night for the McHenry Relays where they have won the meet the past several years. The Warriors picked up two first places winning the 440 and the 880 yd. relays. In the 440 Loren Klapperich, Brian Nuss and Denny and Howie Useman won in 45.5. The 880 team of Denny and Howie, Mugatroyd and Klapperich stepped out to win in the fine time of 1:38.2 in a driving rainstorm. The two mile relay team of Hurckes, Schaeffer, Linnane and Szumulas placed second. Andy Oakley was 4th in the mile run, and Vince Linnane placed second in the 2 mile run. Nuss picked up a 3rd and Howie Useman a 5th in the long jump. Nuss also was 4th in the 330 yd. hurdles. A1 Reinboldt was 4th in the shot put with a toss of 51 feet, and Brett Decker was third in the discus. Scott Freund was in a 7 way tie for first in the pole valut, which was cancelled because of weather conditions. Finishing out the scoring for the Warriors was the mile relay team which placed 5th. All four relay teams placed which is quite an achievement. The coaching staff was quite pleased with the effort of the team in the 24th team field, and they are looking for better weather here Friday night for the McHenry Relays. The first meeting of this season was well attended on April 13, and all were pleased with the changes in the club house and the improvements on the course. First day of play will be Tuesday, April 27, T-times beginning at 9:00 o'clock. We will go out as teams so that you get to know your team mates. The theme ofthe day is, "Fruits of Your Labor". Everyone playing is asked to bring something she has made, this will make you eligible for a prize. The possibilities of things you can make are limitless so let's see some really creative things gals. Regular play will begin May 4 so remember to check your T- time posted in the club house next Tuesday. Remember, too, that this year your greens fee has to be paid whether you play or not. Lois Anderson f Montini Softball^j The Montini Softball teams began their quest for a third consecutive Softball cham pionship by sweeping a doubleheader from Fox River Grove on Wednesday, April 22nd. The 8th grade team won the first game 15-2 by banging out 24 hits and playing solid defense behind the pitching of Mike Sharp and Fred Wegener. Tom Balchunas led the hitting with 4 hits while Tim Sabatka had 3 hits and 4 RBI's. Tom Jablonski had a 6 RBI's on 2 hits, one a grand-slam homerun. A1 Garrelts, Terry Schimon, Mike Sharp, Chris Juzwik and Ed Carey also had 2 hits. The 7th grade team won their game 12-1 with a 9 run first inning, and a good defense behind pitcher, Keith Porter. Tom Sharp and Jay Whit- temore each had 3 hits, with Whittemore hitting a homerun.
