Senator Percy To Visit Senior Center Opening fAO* II • PLAINDEALEIt-WEDNESDAY, MAY If. 1»* "The McHenry County Senior Citizen's council will have the grand opening on their walk-in center for seniors in Crystal Lake Friday, May 21," an­ nounced Marge Jones, executive director for the council. The center is located at 81 91. Williams street, Crystal 16 center will open at 10 a jn. next Friday. Coffee will be senrpd all day along with light refreshments. The morning will be devoted to discussing with seniors the hopes they have for the center and the programs they would like to see in action there. In the early afternoon, entertainment will be provided by P.A.C.T. (Performing Arts Community Theatre of Crystal Lake) and, following that, at ap­ proximate!^ 3:30, Senator Charles Percy will arrive to meet the seniors and to devote some time to a question and answer period. Senator Percy is the ranking Republican on both the Senate Select Committee on Aging and the sub-committee for Nutrition and Human Needs and, as such, should be able to answer the questions many senior citizens have relating to urograms for the elderly. Trade Week Seminar Scheduled For May 19 "The Nuts k Bolts of Ex­ porting," or How to Make Money By Selling Your Product Overseas, is the subject of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce seminar scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, from noon to 4 p.m. Chairman of the event, Daphne Starr, Oak Industries, states that for those who have never considered exporting as part of their business, now may be the time to reconsider. "We have a panel coming who can tell you how easy it is to get your company involved. This can mean a new market and produce dollars for you. International trade is in­ dispensable to our country and Illinois is Number One in the nation with almost $9 billion in annual exports of agricultural and manufactured products," Starr added. This is the fourth of a current series and features export- experts with outstanding credentials. The luncheon-seminar will be held at the Crystal Lake Country club. McGowan, 22, son of Mrs. Marianne McGowan of 1510 N. Freund, McHenry, has returned to San Diego, Ca., after an eight-month deployment to the Western Pacific aboard the frigate, USS Fanning. During the deployment, his ship travelled over 39,000 miles in both the Pacific and Indian oceans and participated in several fleet training exercises including combined exercises with the ships from the Republic of Korea, Iran, Great Britain, and Pakistan. While deployed, he visited the Republic of the Philippines, Singapore, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Republic of Korea, and Guam. A 1973 graduate of McHenry high school, he joined the Navy in August, 1973. USDA says grain sale to Russia won't hurt consumer. Local Boy Enlists In Air Force Christian J. Goetschel, son of Dr. and Mrs. John C. Goetschel of 3714 N. Spring Grove road, McHenry, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force's Delayed Enlist­ ment program, according to Staff Sergeant Steve Loy, Air Force recruiter, 59 N. Douglas avenue, Elgin. Christian Goetschel, presently attending McHenry West high school, is scheduled for enlistment in the Regular Air force Sept. 10. Upon graduation from the Air For­ ce's six week basic training course, he will receive technical training in the electronics aptitude area. He will be earning credits toward a Career Education certificate through the Com­ munity college of the Air Force while attending basic and other Air Force technical training schools.
