It7< June 1 Deadline For County Dairy Princess Candidates As the deadline for the McHenry County Dairy Princess contest draws closer, seven entries have been filed, Larry Harris, secretary- treasurer for the McHenry County Dairy Promotion council, has announced. The deadline wjll be June 1. Candidates will participate in the Harvard Milk day activities and prepare for June Dairy month projects. Entry forms are available from Harris at the Farm Bureau building. For candidates who need a sponsor, Harris and members of the Dairy Promotion-council will arrange for them. Candidates must be between 17-22 years of age, daughter of a dairy farmer, a high school graduate as of June 30, and never married. For exact qualifying rules, prospective candidates can obtain them from Harris. The 1976 Dairy banquet will be held at the county fairgrounds in Building D Wednesday, June 30. Ju<tyng will take place aboout a week before the banquet. One June event will be the appearance before the McHenry County board at its June 14 meeting when the contestants are introduced to the twenty-four member board. They'll offer taste treats of cheese and milk during the morning Milk Break. VFW AUXILIARY Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600 and their Ladies auxiliary will install the 1976- 1977 officers at a joint in­ stallation Sunday evening, May 23, at 7 p.m. The installation will take place at the post home on West Route 120. Daughter Of McHenry Couple 'Woman Of Year' Mrs. Kathy Schroeder of Tolland, Ct., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. Kennedy, 1204 Oakwood drive, Whispering Oaks, has been named first "Woman of the Year" by the Junior Woman's club of Tolland. < mother of four Presently serving as club treasurer, Mrs. Schroeder is also a past vice-president and active on several committees. She helped found the Tolland Early Bird food cooperative and was a president of the Tolland Co-op Nursery school. She is a Sunday school teacher, den mother, a volunteer worker with exceptional children and a member of the Parker and Hicks schools PTO's. She is Mathew Blake Receives First Communion May 9 Mathew Blake received his First Holy Communion from Rev. Leo Bartel during the 9 o- clock Mass at St. John the Baptist church, Johnsburg, on May 9. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Blake of 3517 W. Johnsburg road, McHenry. A party in honor of the occasion was held at the Blake home. The evening will consist of dining and dancing at Tarney's Black Fox in Mundelein Holiday Inn at Routes 45 and 83. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30. Edna Olson will be installed as president of the Ladies auxiliary by Past President Mary Kuemmel. Ray Kuem- mel, a past commander, will install John Somrak as com­ mander. All 1976-1977 officers will officially take office after the state convention in June. "High School Students Who Care" Honored "McHenry High School Students Who Care" were treated to a special "Pepsi" party at Landmark elementary school last week. As part of a community service volunteer program, these students have been spending their free periods each week helping out in classrooms and the learning center at Landmark. The program, now in its second year, is praised by teachers who appreciate the extra hands which can contribute so much toward reaching a child who just needs a bit more individual attention. That is because the McHenry County Dairy Promotion council is arranging for the contest in behalf of the ADA of Illinois and will hold it in Woodstock and Crystal Lake on those two days. The McHenry county entry will be the present reigning McHenry County Dairy Princess who is nearing the end of her reign, Regina Perenchio. Those eligible to enter the 1976 Bicentennial year contest in McHenry county, scheduled for June 30, are daughters of dairy farmers or have lived on a dairy farm; 17-25 years of age Alpha Theta Ladies Observe Founder's Day Celebration of Founders day by the Alpha Theta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma was held recently in Crystal Lake. Installation of officers for the next biennium was held, with Janet Vierke, Richmond, taking over her duties as president. Lemon Cream Pie 4 2 2 1 eggs (separated) heaping T flour lemons (grated rind and juice) c sugar c boiling water Beat yolks and whites, separately, using 2 Table­ spoons sugar in whites. Plum, McHenry, died at McHenry hospital Thursday, May 13. He was 82 years of age. Arrangements were made by the Muzyka funeral home, Chicago. MILLER BABY The infant son of Kenneth L. and Judith Dennis Miller of 4302 White street, Solon Mills, died at birth Thursday, May 13, at St. Therese hospital in Waukegan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dennis of Solon Mills and his maternal great grand­ father, Henry Aubert also of solon Mills. He formerly made his home in Huemann's sub­ division. * His wife, Ella, preceded him in death.
