It was the highest finish for a Warrior squad in the history of the North Suburban. The meet went to the final event, and what more could the fairly large crowd of fans ask for in a ten team track meet. Throughout the field events and the early running events the Warriors maintained a slim lead over the Warhawks, Libertyville Wildcats and the ZeeBees from Zion. Going into the final event, the mile relay, the Warriors had to win the event, with North Chicago finishing no higher than fourth. It was not in the books, although the relay team of Greg Thornton, Brian Nuss, Dennis Useman, and Howie Useman had the fans on their feet with an all out effort only to fall short by two yards for the win. The 880 relay team of the Useman brothers, Loren Klapperich, and Bill Mugratroyd picked up the only first place finish for the Warriors in the Meet. Trailing 8 to 1 going into the 4th inning the Warriors rallied for 3 runs in the 4th, added three more in the 5th, and pushed the final 2 tallies over in the top of the 7th.
