PAGE • - P LA INDEALER-WEDNESDAY, MAY It. 1MI * Jffi & i *. ! t EARL WALSH So I Hear SPORTS EDITOR AVho says we never get out of enry County? Af6H Thought our limited travels had taken us to every part of the State of Wisconsin until the vyinkels curved and twisted over roads that aren't even on the map. 3 At noon our tour took us to a restaurant. Elsie gets hungry. I Perhaps you travellers have ird of the place, the Gobbler Johhson Creek, half way tween Madison and Iwaukee. lat is one unique place to it away some victuals. rhey have a rotating bar that akes a complete circle each ur and 20 minutes. Didn't try at 'cause it might take too ny rounds. With roving spirit surging rough our veins, Alvina and I aded the gas buggy toward oline on Saturday. Landed safely. ^Hadn't been down thataway Sfr 10 years and found some Ranges. Mostly road changes. 1 Nowhere did we see the [affic that is bunched right in own territory. Rte. 120 Phone: / McHenry 385-0783 Hiere is some expensive road building going on down there. Hope the powers that be will recognize the growth in McHenry County. Drove part way on Rte. 5 and thought it was a private road until they socked us 70 cents at a toll way booth. Didn't see more than six vehicles in 50 miles and two of those were police cars. Didn't get so far away that we couldn't watch I couple of White Sox games on TV. One extra inning loss to Kansas City had us muttering to ourself about those banjo hitters in the Sox lineup. The next day brought a victory and hits all over the place. Still think if you can't hit a pitcher you should bunt him to death or at least until his tongue is hanging out from bounding off the mound. Almost forgot -- Fox Hole Evo is looking for one of those Go-Go Sox buttons so popular a few years back. Maybe they went the way of the Dewey buttons after the Truman triumph. Scott captured second place in the North Suburban Meet with a clearance of 13'6M. r»< (STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD) a . By Dick Rabbitt Coach Wally Scott's McHenry High thinclads in an all out effort finished second behind the North Chicago Warhawks in the annual con ference meet held at Mc Cracken Field on Friday night. It was the highest finish for a Warrior squad in the history of the North Suburban. The meet went to the final event, and what more could the fairly large crowd of fans ask for in a ten team track meet. Throughout the field events and the early running events the Warriors maintained a slim lead over the Warhawks, Libertyville Wildcats and the ZeeBees from Zion. Going into the final event, the mile relay, the Warriors had to win the event, with North Chicago finishing no higher than fourth. It was not in the books, although the relay team of Greg Thornton, Brian Nuss, Dennis Useman, and Howie Useman had the fans on their feet with an all out effort only to fall short by two yards for the win. The 880 relay team of the Useman brothers, Loren Klapperich, and Bill Mugratroyd picked up the only first place finish for the Warriors in the Meet. It indeed was a great effort by the Warriors, and they and the coaching staff should be congratulated for their fine performance on Friday night. 4. Zion Benton 78 5. Crystal Lake 66 6.
