PHOTOCOM PHOTO can brag about a dog that has mastered the very suspect "Pay me off and I'll be good" technique? With head hanging in shame, your columnist confesses this questionable trait. It seems to come naturally to Chou Chou. She will steal a glove from a neigh bor's open garage, and fearing it will be torn the ashamed owner runs in the house, dives for a couple of Chou Chou's favorite goodies •• peanut butter kisses - whereupon Chou Chou seeing the yummy tidbits, drops the glove undamaged. This is not the way to train a dog. Perhaps you can avoid the same mistakes by reading about this unfortunate situation. Sad to say, Chou Chou doesn't pick up any hints and continues in her slap-happy way to express her in dividuality and lack of interest in learning the finer ABC's of dogdom. It's obvious that she knows she has it made; that things are the way she likes it, so why bother. Not the only trait she has developed, but one of the traits that does show reasoning ability and a conniving kind of intelligence is something known as blackmail. (DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY) Consumer Forum RECIPE by Illinois Attorney General William J. Scott As the weather turns warm, it seems that everywhere I look I see young people streaking by on skate boards. Their coor dination and skill is often amazing. But often, too, their fearlessness turns into recklessness, posing a danger to themselves and to others. Skateboarding requires many of the same athletic skills as roller skating and surfing. It requires careful practice in controlled situations. And at all times, it requires observing certain safety rules: 1. Don't skateboard on public streets or highways or on Olympic W Olympic Oweooat. Outside White If your homo has old paint, and you wish it were beautifully white, the answer is Olympic Overcoat Outside White. Once you try it, you'll put it over paint every time. Olympic guarantees you'll like Overcoat better than any ordinary housepaint you've ever used. Try it NOW...and save $3 on specially marked gallons! Only skateboard on smoothly paved surfaces free from bumps, holes and wide cracks. 5. Don't skateboard in areas where there is pedestrian traffic. No one wants to be knocked down by a careening skateboarder! 6. Skateboard at night only in well lighted, controlled areas; and wear light colored clothing. 7. Only one person to a skateboard! don't try to skateboard while carrying a small child. 8. Wear tennis shoes or shoes with nonslip soles. A crash helmet would be a good idea, too. 9. Remember that control of the skateboard is more im portant than speed. 10. Keep your skateboard in good condition. Unfortunately, thousands of people each year are injured seriously enough in skateboard accidents to require treatment in hospital emergency rooms. The Consumer Product Safety commission reports 27,522 such injuries involving skateboards and roller skates last year, with 18,749 of these injuries in volving young people between the ages of five and four- By Sarah Anne Sheridan Spring brings the colorful and delicious strawberry and it can be s e r v e d in many ways.
