Sophomores Split Double- header With Libertyville The McHenry sophomores split a pair of ball games Saturday, beating the young Cats 6 to 0 in the first game and losing 15 to 4 in the nightcap. In the opener Dave Covah went the distance giving up 4 hits, striking out 2, and walking just one batter. Steve Knox had a solo homer, and Brian DiBlasi had a 2 run blast. In the nightcap Bobby Hansen, the first of four pit chers, took the loss. Marty Deener hit a blast over the centerfield fence some 250 feet away for the sophs. Players in each sport were presented with some form of recognition for their efforts in the '75- '76 season. Team managers, cheerleaders, statisticians and volunteer helpers were also recognized wit,W appreciation for their assistance. Ronald Svoboda, School Superintendent, addressed the group with words of praise for the outstanding sports program that has taken firm roots in the Montini school. Correlation between the academic and athletic programs was reflected. The head table was lined with plaques and cups as awards. Two large plaques were presented to the school by Tom Pender.
