Seemed we would never get through with the rest of the sports news. f --T- But, Our Little Helen (kitten on the line-o-type keys) tells us to get going - and write a column. Ever try to argue with a woman? That Bloody Englishman, Richard Dunn, gave Muhammad Ali a bit of trouble in the squared ring. Dunn was done in the fourth round, then bit the dust in the fifth. It was easy to admire Ali's class until the fight was over. Then he put on a show that one observer called "Bush". Can't imagine Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano or Jack Dempsey putting on that kind of a show. Great as Ali is, he lost points on our card. Foreman Dick (slave driver) reminds us of the upcoming early deadline for Memorial Day week. No rest for the wicked. Jerry Miller (Crystal Lake .SPORTS EDITOR--I Road Jerry) phoned to say he is happy for our Sox in their 9 - game winning streak. There are other Cub fans we haven't heard from. All the precincts aren't in yet. Now they call them the "Hot Sox" or "Amazing Sox". A couple of weeks ago they had other names for them. Wondered why we hadn't seen Lillian Stilling in a long time. Met her Wednesday and learned she had been in Florida for the winter. A while ago Twice Told Tales told that Lillian was enjoying a vacation from her duties as telephone operator. It gave her a laugh. Said it was a 3-day vacation. Times have changed. That was long, long ago. Had a big surprise and a pleasant one when Marshall Woodburn and his wife, Alma, came a-callin' to our house this week. Marshall grew up in Wood stock, then spent a couple of years in McHenry when his father ran the meat market (used to call them butcher shops) in the Bill Pries building. Marshall and Alma now reside in Michigan, but they never forget McHenry County.
