Zoning Board Petitioned For Storage Building - The McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a zoning hearing at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 17, to consider a petition by Eugene J. and Dorothy A. Hughes. The Hughes' wisn to erect another building near a pole barn already on their property. The land in question contains about 5 acres and is located on the south side of Johnsburg road, approx-1 mately % mile north of thei intersection of Route 31 and Johnsburg road, north of McHenry. The building would be used for storage of equipment and similar items used in the petitioner's excavating business. They would also like to use the building for inside storage for hire in the event all the space is not utilized for Hughes' own equipment. Cameron of 503 Dowell road, McHenry, was charged with aggravated assault Saturday evening after it was reported someone was shooting at youths in the area with a rifle. George Meyer of the river patrol, Patis was unfamiliar with the area and traveled past warning buoys. His cruiser ran over the dam and landed in an upright position. A similar incident occurred about two weeks ago at the same location. Sgt. Meyer has contacted state officials and suggested that a large sign be placed near the buoys warning boaters unfamiliar with the area that the McHenry Dam is directly ahead of the buoys. A small sign now at the buoys notifies boaters that it Is a no wake area but does not mention that the dam is ahead. Three youths were injured when the car in which they were riding ran into a ditch and hit four trees and a telephone pole Sunday morning about 3 o'clock. Driver of the car, Herbert S. Burt of 216 Harding avenue, Waukegan, and his passengers, Thomas W. Heppner and Michael Wines, both of 7812 Oakwood drive, Wonder Lake, were taken to the McHenry hospital by the Crystal Lake ambulance service. The accident took place on Route 31, north of Squaw Creek road near the foot of Terra Cotta hill. Burt reported his car started to skid as he started down the hillcrest. He lost control and ran into an east ditch. Two women were injured Friday morning about 2 o'clock while on their way to the emergency room of McHenry hospital. Edith M. Morris of 813 Black Partridge, McHenry, was driving her neighbor, Rosa L. Nichols of 815 Black Partridge, to the hospital when she lost control of her car as she passed a vehicle in front of her on River road at the intersection of Quinn road, just south of Snug Harbor. The Morris auto hit a guard rail, flipped over the rail and landed on its side in a group of small trees. Both ladies were taken to the hospital by the McHenry Rescue squad, where Mrs. Morris was treated and released. Ms. Nichols was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. William M. Anderson and his wife, Pamela, of 7715 Lucy drive, Wonder Lake, were taken to McHenry hospital by the McHenry Rescue squad after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car at the comer of Route 120 and River road Sunday morning about 11:30. According to the report, Anderson was traveling east on the highway when a car driven by Matthew Wings of 4800 W. Wonder Lake road, Wonder Lake, turned left in front of the Anderson 'cycle and they collided. Wings was ticketed for failure to yield turning left. A collision at the intersection of Route 120 and Charles street, east of the bridge, Sunday morning about 1 o'clock resulted in injury to three people. Walter E. Schultz, Jr., of 1312 N. Fairview lane, McHenry, was taken to the local hospital by the Rescue Squad, as were the driver of the other car, Mary McClatchey of 3804 W. Ellen and her passenger, Lawrence F. Rudolph of 1406 N. Green, both of McHenry According to witnesses and Ms. McClatchey, the Schultz auto drove into the west-bound lane and hit the McClatchey car. Schultz was ticketed for driving in the wrong lane. Wayne D. Joseph of 7306 Virginia road, Crystal Lake, was ticketed for driving while his license was revoked or suspended after his car left the roadway at the intersection of Johnsburg road and Riverside drive Saturday night about 11:45. Witnesses reported Joseph's car left Johnsburg road, swerved into the south ditch and then returned to the roadway. When witnesses stopped to check, they discovered the right rear wheel of the car was missing. Claude Owen, Jr., of 704 N. Country Club drive, Mchenry, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after he hit the rear of another car on the entrance ramp to Route 14, east of Crystal Lake. Cindy C. Bailey of 906 Center street, McHenry, was stopped on the ramp Thursday morning waiting to enter the highway when her car was struck from behind. Leo C. Martin of 8419 Ramble road, Wonder Lake, told deputies he was west-bound on Lincoln road at the intersection of Woodlawn Park road when an animal ran in front of his auto. When he swerved to avoid hitting it, he lost control of his car and hit a group of trees and a highway sign. The incident took place Friday morning about 3:30. About 200 feet of fencing was damaged just after midnight Friday when a car driven by William *R. Huebner of 704 Columbus drive, McHenry, ran off the roadway in an attempt to avoid hitting a large animal which suddenly appeared in his lane of trayel. The mishap occurred at 911 S.
