Lakeland Women s Club In Plans For Annual Picnic LISAHUEMANN ENGAGED - Mr. and Mr*. Thomas Huemann of Johns burg annouce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa, to Thomas Cote', son of Mr. and Mrs. James Cote' of Cary. Miss Huemann Is a 1975 graduate of Marian Central high school and Don Roberts School of Beauty. Mr. Cote' also graduated from Marian Central In 1974. A January 15, 1977 wedding is planned. Jesus Rallies Director Women Aglow Speaker Bob Schroy, director of the Chicago Jesus Rallies and host of a regular Saturday evening talk show on the new Christian television station in Chicago, channel 38, will address Woman Aglow in Christ Thursday, June 24. The lun­ cheon will be held at Mar- tinetti's on Route 14 at 11 a.m. The meeting is open to all who wish to. come. Bob Schroy, the dynamic young founder and director of the Chicagoland Jesus Rallies, is involved currently in an area-wide spiritual awakening in the greater Chicago. Over five years ago, leaving a position as outreach director for the Melodyland Christian center in California, which has a congregation of over 10,000, he was ied to Chicago where he founded the Jesus Rallies. Even though the Jesus Rallies have become nation-wide, his greatest personal concern is for the Chicago area. Candlelight Rite Unites McHenry Man, Wilmette Bride In a lovely candlelight ceremony at the Prince of Peace Lutheran church, Indianapolis, In., the union of Miss Susan Hildegarde Lau of Wilmette and Gregory E. Borter of Indiana, was solemnized June 12. The 7:30 p.m. service was conducted by Pastor Gene Hollingsworth. Miss Lau is the daughter of' Mr. and Mrs. John E. Lau of 619 Fifth street, Wilmette, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Borter of Indian Trail, McHenry. Special musical selections ^included "Starting Here, Starting Now", "All God's Gifts", "Wedding March", "Trumpet Voluntaire", and "Sound of Music". The pretty bride chose a white quiana gown with appliques, styled with an open neckline, long sleeves and an A- line skirt which fell into a chapel length train. She wore a quiana cap with fingertip veil. Pamela J. Drew of Wilmette attended her friend as maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Deborah Borter, sister of the groom, McHenry; Kate Smith, La Crosse. Wi., sister of the bride; Tracey and Dodie Lau, both sisters of the bride and both from Wilmette. The attendants wore gowns with Kelly great tops trimmed with white and floor length Kelly green and white checked skirts. Each carried a bouquet of white and yellow daisies and baby's breath. Charles Frick of Indianapolis served his friend as best man, while William Smith, McHenry; Jeff and Steve Borter, both McHenry and brothers of the groom; Craig Seckel, Cincinnati, Oh., and Jack Lau, LaGrange, brother of the bride, acted as groomsmen. • The bride's mother wore a floor length, apricot knit gown and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Borter chose a long green knit dress with a gardenia corsage. Following a reception for 300 guests at Williamsburg on the Lake, the couple left on a honeymoon trip to Cincinnati, Oh. They will make their home at 3450 Sherburne Circle, Apt. C, Indianapolis, In. Both of the young people attended DePauw university in Greencastle, In., where the groom was a 1973 graduate. He was a member of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity and the bride, a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Miss Lau currently works at the Blood center in Indianapolis and will return to DePauw in the fall to complete her degree in Nursing. Mr. Borter is employed as assistant manager at the King Cole restaurant* ** « * Most of us have enough to do by regulating our own life. The next meeting of the Lakeland Park Women's club will be Thursday, July 1, at 12:30 p.m. at the Lakeland Park Community house, 1717 North Sunset avenue. Final plans must be completed for the second annual picnic sponsored by the club, assisted by the Lakeland Park Property Owners association board of directors.„ On June 2 the club held the annual officers' Luncheon, with twenty-one ladies in attendance at the Old Mill Restaurant in Richmond, Illinois. The first award was a plaque presented to charter member, Lyda Radisch, in recognition of her outstanding service to the club since its beginning in many capacities. Primarily the award was for her more than Newcomers Club Enjoys Historical Society Speaker The program at the June meeting of the Town and Country Newcomers was given by Mrs. Nancy Fike of the McHenry County Historical society. June 22 is the date set for the annual ladies luncheon which will be held at the Mill inn in Richmond. It was decided that instead of the regular Newcomers meeting during the summer months, there would be Tea, Talk and Sew gatherings. The next one will be held July 13 in the home of Mrs. Robert Howell at 9:30 a.m. The Newcomers club is designed to help people new to the McHenry area. Anyone interested may call Mrs. John Purcell or Mrs. Steve Bokemeier. Invite Senior Citizens To Take Part In June Fair ' The public is invited to the second annual senior citizens hobby fair, sponsored by the Woodstock Kiwanis club, in the Woodstock city square Saturday, June 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Citizens over 50 from throughout McHenry county will show their collections, or offer their creations for sale. Late entries will be accepted at the headquarters table after 9 a.m. Old Fashion Ice Cream Social June Church Event One of the many events toeing held to celebrate Zion Lutheran church's 100th anniversary is an old fashion ice cream social. It will be held Sunday, June 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the church, 4206 W. Waukegan road. The public is invited to attend for an enjoyable time, and to partake of the many homemade fruit pies, pie ala modes or sundaes. There will be continuous entertainment, which includes magic shows. She was also presented with a corsage. The second award went to Cecilia Oakford for her eight years as registrar. She was unable to attend the luncheon. The third award was for Mary Dobbins, a past president of the club, for her energetic work on the various projects of the club. New members were presented with corsages and all the ladies 70 years or older were presented with corsages and designated "club sweethearts". A large plaque will be in­ stalled at the Community house, and each year in the future the member chosen as "lady of the year" will have her name added to the above names. The awards came as a complete surprise, and a very pleasant one. It was a memorable afternoon, par- ticulary for the proud award recipients. The Lakeland Park Women's club is a very active. Eligibility is membership in good standing in the Lakeland Park Property Owners association. The president of the club and the other officers and members extend an invitation to all ladies in Lakeland Park and Lakeland Shores who are eligible for membership to come to the July meeting. The ladies all have ' secret pals" who they keep in touch with in various ways to bring pleasure throughout the year. MARRIED - Miss Bonnie Westfahl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Westfahl, Woodstock, and Robert Bergquist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bergquist, St. Charles, were united in marriage May 29 at St. John's Lutheran church, Woodstock. The 7 p.m. ceremony was followed by a reception for the couple at the Knights of Columbus in Woodstock. The couple will reside in St. Charles. The bride was employed in McHenry prior to her marriage. DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY Local Chapter Represented At Joliet Convention Pi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was represented by Mrs. Karen Colomer, Mrs. Diane Johnson ' and Mrs. Virginia Stasiak at the Illinois area convention hosted by the City Council of Joliet. It was held at the Holiday Inn, South, and the Sheraton in Joliet, June 5 and 6. Saturday's schedule con­ sisted of registration, a cocktail party and bazaar. The hospitality room was opened for cards, conversation and refreshments. Both of the young people are students of the Oak Hills Bible institute. They are making their home in Bemidji, Mn. Complimentary bus service was provided to transport convention members to the hotel for the luncheon. Mrs. Pat Desideria welcomed all 453 women to the convention. A welcome from the city of Joliet was extended by one of the Mayor's councilmen. After a delightful lunch, the scrapbook awards and bazaar awards were distributed. Entertainment was provided by Mr. Siegal and the Newpeople. The guest speaker was Mrs. Marge Thomas from the International office. The convention weekend proved to be enjoyable as well as informative.
