This is the fourth con- sectuve year the vans have toured Illinois. Donald R. Ramsey, director of the VA regional office in Chicago said the cities include Kalb, July 22-23; and Rock- ford, July 26-27. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Ramsey said the traveling vans provide veterans and their beneficiaries the opportunity to talk on a face-to-face basis with a veterans counselor without having to travel to Chicago. Riverside Drive These eight buildings were among ten receiving plaques Sunday as the oldest buildings in McHenry and the immediate vicinity. Plaques suitable for exterior mounting were awarded to owners and-or residents in an impressive ceremony held in Petersen Park. Two other homes, believed to be the oldest structures still used as residences, appear on the front page. They are the Owen homestead, 1113 N. Fourth street, McHenry, and the Kenneth Petersen home, 4112 W. McCullom Lake road. The former was built in 1838 and the latter is known to have been constructed during the 1830's.
