Poor, Jr., whose wife Rosette, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Maggi of McHenry, has returned to Charleston, S.C., after an extended deployment to the Mediterranean as a crew member aboard the guided missile frigate USS Mahan. During the six-month deployment, his ship steamed more than 25,000 miles and participated in several operational readiness training exercises as a unit of the U.S. Sixth fleet. The exercises enabled his ship to test and improve its primary mission of anti-submarine warfare and anti-aircraft defense. He visited Haifa, Israel, during the cruise, marking the first time a U.S. warship had docked there since November, 1963. In addition, he visited ports in Italy, France and Spain during the deployment. The past! the infinite greatness of the past! Nick Pintozt Earns Degree In Journalism ' fi - A McHenry woman's son recently received a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma* in Norman. He was one of ap­ proximately 600 persons receiving degrees at the dose of the summer semester. Nick Pintozzi, son of Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Pintozzi, 4913 W. Home avenue, McHenry, successfully com­ pleted the graduate degree program, writing a thesis on Oklahoma daily newspaper editors' attitudes toward in­ vestigative reporting. He also worked as a graduate assistant, teaching a course in basic newswriting and a course in the use of informational resources while maintaining a 4.0 (A)grade point average in his studies. Pintozzi is a 1961 graudate of McHenry Community high school. He received/^ a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the Univer­ sity of Oklahoma in 1967. Two From Area - Receive Degrees Judson College Two area students received their B.A. degrees from Mudson college, Elgin, St graduation services held earlier this summer. Timothy Eternick of 2106 W. Holly court, graduated as a Human Institutions major. A vocation in banking or ac­ counting is in Tim's future plans. < • , * Deborah K. Leonard of 2905 N. Bay View lane, graduated as a Human Institutions major. While at Judson, Deborah was secretary . for the Young Republicans and a member of the College Republican club. Graduate study in political science and public law is in her future plans.
