The 4:30 ceremony took place with Maria Guettler and Mrs. Sally (Guettler) Roth, both of Mc- Cullom Lake, participating as organist and solist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Koepke of Spring Grove and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Hodges of Wailea, Hawaii, on Oahu. The lovely bride wore a gown of white voile with a long train edged with two rows of voile ruffle. It featured a high collar and a square bib front of alencon lace edged with viole ruffle. The long sleeves were also ruffled at the wrists. Best man duties were han­ dled by Larry DeCombra of Ewo Beach, Hawaii and Dale Hood of Waipahu, Hawaii, was groomsman. Mrs. Koepke wore a Nile green formal length chiffon coat-style gown with a white orchid corsage. The groom's mother chose a pink floor length chiffon gown with a full skirt. The "Hawaiian Wedding Song" was among the selec­ tions offered by three native Hawaiian women fn the traditional dress of the Islands who entertained during the reception held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Dome following the wedding ceremony. The guests enjoyed dancing to orchestra music after dinner. Of special beauty was a four-tier wedding cake decorated with pikake, plumeria and Bahalis and delicate laced edgings. Guests attending from McHenry included Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Gehrke, Mrs. Dorothy Cusack, Mrs. Yvonne Ryden, Mrs. Edward Guettler and Mrs. James Roth. Other guests came from Glenview, Naperville, Great Lakes and Chicago, II., California and Canada. The bride graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1967 and attended John F. Kennedy college. The groom is a 1965 graduate of Kalani high school, Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple are making their home at 1570 Kaumoli street, Pearl City, Hawaii. At the first meeting of the Pioneer club following a month's vacation, William Wild presented a resolution to use funds allotted for recreational purposes, with thirty-five percent of this fund used for social activities and club budget funds used for recreation. A motion was made that the resolution be passed and was approved by a majority vote. Forty-eight members were in attendance at the opening of the meeting. Nine members had birthdays in August and bir­ thday greetings were sung to them. Two new members were introduced, Eugene and Elsie Grochocki who celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary, Aug. 20 and congratulations were extended them. The Public Relations chairman told of Senior Citizen center opening in Fox Lake at the Lions club Aug. 19, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30"p.m. Lunch will be servedaf noon each Tuesday and ^Thursday. The only reamrement is that one must be oyer the age of sixty. Theatre and dinner was planned for Sept. 21, the bus to leave the old bank parking lot at 10:45 a.m. Reservations will be accepted up to Sept. 7. A harvest dinner will be held Oct. 19. The next meeting will be Sept. 7. Barbecue and cake will be served. The committee includes Laura Kutish, Hilda Meyer, Frances Foley and Walter Pretzman. MR. AND MRS. RICHARD M. HUMMEL RAINBOW WEDDING - In a setting surrounded by rainbow colors, Donna Marie Kuk and Richard Michael Hummel repeated their nuptial vows before the Rev. Stephen T. Palmer in Christ the King Catholic church Saturday, July 17. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Resetar of Wonder Lake and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hummel, also of Wonder Lake, the couple are making their home in Wonder Lake. Baptismal Gown Worn By Second Generation Son In a white satin and lace gown worn by his father when he was baptized, Stephen Joseph Zriny, II, was christened by the Rev. Edmond Petit at St. Patrick's Catholic church in a recent 1:30 p.m. ceremony. Stephen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Zriny, 6115 N. Lillian street, McHenry, and the brother of Cassandra, one and one-half years old. An uncle, Michael Phelan of Omaha, Nb., acted as god­ father. Godmother by proxy was Patty Phelan also of Omaha, representing Mrs. Susan Schaefer, McHenry. The baby's paternal grand­ parents are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tonyan, and maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs., Ja<?k Phelan, all of McHenry. Qteat grandparents include Mrs. William Althoff, McHenry, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phelan, Woodstock. An outdoor reception featuring a buffet luncheon was held with approximately twenty-five guests in at­ tendance. Of special interest was a cake made in the shape of an open Bible with the words "Welcome to God's World, Stephen", written on it. AUGUST 30 McHenry Woman's Club - Board Meeting - City Hall - 10 a.m. Wedding Gown Of Satin And Lace Designed By Bride Wearing a satin and lace wedding gown she had designed and made, Carol Ann Curran exchanged nuptial vows with John Morrison Hays before the Rev. William Schwartz Saturday, Aug. 21. The 2:30 p.m. ceremony took place at St. Mary's Catholic church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James D. Curran, 207 S. Curran road, McHenry, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard K. Hays, R.R. 1, White Heath, II. The lovely bride wore an original, full length gown of lace trimmed white chiffon net over grenadine satin with at­ tached train. The dress featured a scoop neckline and sheer sleeves. She also wore a matching cap headpiece with a veil of lace-trimmed layers of net and carried a bridal spray of yellow roses with white fugi mums and carnations. Joan Brinker of Pontiac, II, attended the bride as maid of honor while Dorothy Curran, Orland Park, sister of the bride, and Mrs.Suesi Bethara, Buffalo Grove were bridesmaids. A niece of the bride, Lucy O'Donnell of Woodstock, was Junior bridesmaid and flower girl was Heather Spencer, also a niece, from Oswego, II. All the attendants were at­ tired in full length gowns of flower print, yellow flocked chiffon with empire waistline, V neck, cap sleeve and back tie belt. Each wore a headpiece of yellow ribbon with attached white daisies. The entire en­ sembles were made by the bride. Cascades of white Fugi mums and white carnations encircling yellow roses with yellow streamers were carried. The flower girl carried a white bridal basket containing white daisies and yellow and white carnations. Best man duties were han­ dled by Robert Wells of Phoenix, Az., and groomsmen were David and Jim Hays, both brothers of the groom from White Heath, II. Robert Hays of Champaign, a nephew of the groom was junior groomsmen, while the ring bearer was the bride's nephew, Colin Todd Spencer, Jr., of Oswego. The bride's mother wore a full length, sleeveless dress of green chiffon with matching shawl while Mrs. Hays chose a floor length, lavendar brocade gown. One hundred and fifty guests feted the bridal couple at the American Legion hall following the ceremony. The newly weds will live ij^, Springfield, II., following a wedding trip to the Pocono Mountains, Pa. The bride and groom are both graduates of the University of Illinois. The new Mrs. Hays will resume her occupation as teacher in the Fall. The groom is employed as an accountant.
