The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence N. Diedrich and tfye groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Schmitt. The young couple are making their home in McHenry. SARNWICK PHOTOGRAPHY Open Fall Friendship Season With Potluck The Friendship club of the First United Methodist church of McHenry will have its first fall pot luck dinner and meeting Saturday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. in the church dining room. It will be followed by a short business meeting, and then a very fine program. Hosts and hostesses for the September meeting will be Vivian Bassett, Helen and Dan Creamer, Esther Sims, Florence Colby and Shirley and John Hosie. The Meat committee will consist of Daisy and Harold Wildhagen, Lyda Radisch, Cleda and Leonard McCracken, Mable Thomas, Mary Butler, Ruth and John Godtfredsen, Ethel and Clyde Bailey, Grace and Adolph Borchers, Ann Demke, Gertrude Anderson and Elizabeth Fairchild. Bernice and Donald Corby are in charge of the program for the evening. They will present Yvonne and Bill Wilson with some of their very beautiful and interesting pictures. This is a very casual group, with five fellowship. Members extend a very warm invitation to all members of the congregation who meet the age requirements to come and enjoy a most delightful time. If one of the couple is 50 years old, but the mate is younger, both are eligible to join. The new roster and menu schedules are in the mail to members. Parenthood Classes To Start Next Monday A reminder to prospective parents comes from Bert Hanson, executive director of Memorial Hospital for McHenry County at Woodstock. Hanson announced the next "Preparation for Parenthood" free instructional course--a two-evening session--will begin at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13. The informational program will be held in the hospital dining room on both Sept. 13 and Sept. 20, as a free com­ munity service program of Memorial hospital. Both prospective mothers and fathers are invited, and in the past frequently both expectant parents have attended these sessions. Prospective parents are asked to obtain the routine permission slip from their doctors. Mrs. Fran Scholpp, R.N., Obstetrical department supervisor, will take part in the program, which includes a tour of the hospital's maternity department, movies and talks. Former McHenry resident, Debra Geoge, was married to Marifc^eTourneau of Longview, Tx^®'at ceremonies in the Central Church of the Nazar^ne,. Orlando, Fl. The Rev. Paul Bickes officiated at the Saturday, Aug. 21, three o'clock service. The bride, a student in the McHenry schools for about fifteen years, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin George of Orlando, Fl., and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ben LeTourneau of Longview, Tx. The church was decorated with baskets of giant shasta daisies. The groom sang "With These Hands". Other selections included "Wedding Prayer" by Sue Fulkerson and "Whither Thou Goest" sung by Dan and Robin Robinson. The bride wore a formal gown of silk organza fashioned in a princess line. The high collar, tapered formal sleeves and soft A-line skirt were ac­ cented with daisy appliques of Venice lace. A deep ruffle trimmed in Venice lace highlighted the skirt and chapel length train. The illusion chapel length veil, attached to a crown headpiece, was bordered in Venice lace. She carried a bouquet of white roses and daisies. Roni Rogers of McHenry attended her friend as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Sherrye LeTourneau, Longview, Tx., sister of the groom; Debbie Shaffer, for­ merly of McHenry now living in Breckenridge, Co.; Shirley Cook, Peggy Folsum, Robin Paulus, Jan Porter and Bev Kauffman, all of Orlando, Fl, The bridesmaids wore princess style gowns of crepe with square necklines, and cape sleeves trimmed in daisy appliques of Venice lace. Four were in poudre blue and four in mint green. Each carried yellow daisies with halos of daisies and baby's breath in their hair. Anthony Barbar of Boca Raton, Fl., served his friend as best man. Groomsmen were Jerry Hanson, Mike Connell and Kenny George, brother of the bride, all of Orlando, Fl.; Dave Everson, Bradenton, Fl.' Roy LeTourneau, Longview, Tx., brother of the groom, Richard Bump, Zellwood, Fl., and James Workman, III, Jacksonville, Fl. The mother of the bride wore a gown of aqua polyester satin trimmed in silver lace while Mrs. LeTourneau chose a floor length gown of soft green with a matching jacket. Three hundred and fifty guests gathered for a reception at the First Alliance church, Orlando, Fl., where a daisy and rose-decorated cake was supported by cupids and featured a fountain un­ derneath. McHenry guests attending the ceremonies were Mr. and Mrs. Steven George, brother of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bierman, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Meurer, Mike Rogers, Miss Dawn Ewald and Miss Linda Meurer. Other Illinois guests were from Harvard, Chicago and Arlington Heights. A wedding trip will include Promote Home Economist In McHenry County Moyle Williams, acting director of the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension service, has announced the promotion to rank of senior adviser for Nancy Moore, home economist Extension adviset in McHenry county. The ex­ tension service provides educational materials in Agriculture and Home Economics for all residents of McHenry county. The McHenry county office is located in Woodstock at Mc- Connell road and 47. Mrs. Moore has been an adviser for twenty years in Illinois and Wisconsin. In announcing this promotion Williams pointed out that only seven advisers in the state attained this rank in 1976. Mrs. Moore is the only adviser in Northern Illinois District II. To qualify, advanced education, job competance and acceptance by fellow professionals are considered. Mrs. Moore lives on Country Club road in Woodstock. She has three daughters, one at­ tending I.S.N, at Bloomington. Parade Of Fall Fashions « Musical Paintings 99 To Be Offered On Sept. 26, John Mosiman, performing artist , will appear at the Zion Lutheran church on Waukegan road, starting at 7:30 p.m. The program is being sponsored by the Zion Ladies Aid. Mosiman has developed a highly dynamic and personal form of sharing his faith. It is called "Musical Paintings", a performance in which he creates large paintings while drawing in rhythm with music. In his performances he is ac­ companied by synchronized orchestral sound tracks and lighting effects. The paintings included in his program are Creation, The Mayflower, and The Resurrection of Lazarus. This program will be of in­ terest to people of all ages, and the public is cordially invited. In an­ nouncing this annual event, Mrs. Alice Olbrich stressed that only handmade crafts will be for sale. Sponsored by the McHenry County Homemakers Ex­ tension association, this crafts day will feature articles prepared by twenty-one homemaker units. In addition to separate booths, there will also be a Farmers' Market featuring fruits, vegetables, jams, pickles, plant slips, squash and much more. Grandmas Cupboard will feature homemade baked goods. The doors will open at 9:30 a m and close at 3 p.m. Lun­ cheon will be served starting at 11:30 p.m. Coffee and homemade coffee cakes will be available in the morning. New Experiences With Foods A new experience in food preparation will be available through McHenry County college's Adult Education program, beginning this Fall. Here is a course designed to give the student an opportunity for creativity and ex­ perimentation in the kitchen. Scope Sponsors Stretch-Sew Fashion Show SCOPE-Successful Child­ birth and Organized Parent Education-will be sponsoring a Stretch and Sew Fashion show Tuesday, Sept. 14. Personnel from Arlington Heights Stretch and Sew will model the newest in Stretch and Sew's fall line, and will give a brief demonstration of the easy techniques.
