J SECTION 2 - PAGE 6 - PLA1NDEALER-FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29,1976 nSflNHIAN m HE fVIIIKE There is an important element in the process of growing up that not all parents understand. It expresses it self in games of role-playing--the child pretends to be a grown-up in some adventurous situation. As parents, we should realize that there is more to a child's role-playing than imagination. Actually he is caught up in a fascination for the future. He is beholding tomorrow as a horizon of limitless opportunities. Being a brave fireman is just one possibility he'll explore. To wise parents this fascination for the future signals the child's pressing need for religious training. Whatever his emerging role in our complex society, his God-given potentials in moral and spiritual integrity must be developed. One of the churches in our community should be yours. Its program of worship and Christian education offers a FOUNDA- TION FOR THE FUTURE. Fascination ' M alone is tragically inadequate. Nancy Briscoe, director of the McHenry County Housing authority, announced at a recent board meeting that the county's application for the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payments program has been accepted by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and a contract should be executed within the next two weeks. This contract, providing McHenry county with approximately $300,000 per year, will enable the Housing Authority to assist forty-five elderly and fifty-five non-elderly families with their rental costs. Briscoe stated that the new Section 8 program, which originated with the Federal Housing Act of 1974, is ideally suited for McHenry county. "Under this program, no high-rise, low income housing projects will be constructed. Families may receive assistance in their present units or in any acceptable unit throughout the county. This encourages the socio-economic mix that is such a characteristic of fhe neighborhoods in all of the cities and towns of the county", she S3 id To qualify for the program the following income limits have been set by the federal government: $ i |y I S s 11 !2^Cn£ in zmy County i dozLzit <SwixouncLing± SPECIALIZING IN FRESH FISH. DOUBLE DIPPING The Illinois Department of Public Aid and its counterpart in Michigan last week an nounced a cooperative agreement to curb fraud by welfare recipients. The agreement was reached after a computer assisted survey turned up nineteen welfare recipients who were receiving aid from both states. Illinois aid officials are also working with Indiana and Missouri to un cover additional cases of fraud. Persons who are accepting welfare aid from more than one state are immediately removed from the rolls and their names turned over to law enforcement authorities. IVH' x • • 1 the Sierra Now!
